"Formal training adds layers of depth to hands-on experience, enhancing our ability to make a difference." Training as a Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner in CAMHS was a transformative experience. This role involved working directly with children and adolescents who were struggling with their mental health. The training was rigorous, but it provided me with invaluable tools and techniques that I could bring into my work, particularly in understanding the impact of trauma on young minds as well as the parent. One of the children I worked with had been severely affected by bullying at school. His anxiety was so intense that he had stopped attending classes or leaving his bedroom altogether. Using trauma-informed techniques, we worked on building a sense of safety and control in his life. Slowly, he began to regain his confidence. By the end of our sessions, he was not only back in school but actively participating in class. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of early intervention and the profound impact it can have on a familys future. Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is designed to empower families with the tools they need to overcome challenges, foster healthy communication, and prevent substance use in their children. As we recognize the importance of early childhood mental health awareness this month, we urge parents to join us in promoting their children’s mental health. 😁😁 SFP training will begin in a few months, and more details on how to apply will be shared in the coming days. We can’t wait to see the transformation this training will bring to the lives of children and families. ❤️ #StrengtheningFamilies #SFP #MentalHealthMatters #SubstanceAbusePrevention #HealthyFamilies

According to the CDC, “School-based activities can make a profound difference in the lives of teens with a relatively small infusion of support to schools. More than 95% of U.S. youth spend much of their daily lives in school. While their primary goal is academic learning, schools can take evidence-based steps to foster the knowledge, skills and support needed to help prevent and reduce the negative impact of violence and other trauma and improve mental health.” What has your school done to address the mental health crisis teens are facing? #education #highschool #teenmentalhealth #backtoschool #schoolcounselor #nationalsuicidepreventionmonth

Improving school attendance is everyone’s business and to tackle the challenge we face we need to work together. Only 36% of children in KS4 with an attendance of below 90% got 9 to 4 in their English and maths GCSEs, compared with 84% of regular attenders. Regular school attendance can also create positive peer relationships, a protective factor for mental health and wellbeing. From the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child. #AttendanceCounts
