In times like these, it’s clear how much we need each other to thrive. Regardless of what may be on our minds or hearts after the election, I’m deeply committed to the work we’re doing at Mass Technology Leadership Council—work that brings people together to learn, share, and make a real impact. This support allows businesses to train and upskill their teams, building and retaining local talent. https://lu.ma/287ez54l Later in the month we are partnering with Flybridge, Glasswing Ventures, and SVB to host a Women in AI networking meetup—a space where women in AI can connect, share insights, and get invaluable support. https://lu.ma/4s3ysrb5 If you’re interested in partnering, let’s connect. Reflections from Day One of SF Tech Week: Relationships at the Core It’s only day one of SF Tech Week, and I’m already absorbing so much. The energy here in San Francisco is unmatched, but what really stands out isn’t just the groundbreaking tech—it's the conversations and the people behind the innovation. Grabbing a beer with Puya Vossoughi, a friend and the biggest advocate of the “relationships come first” mindset, reminded me that even in the most tech-driven environments, it’s the human connections that propel us forward. AI and Responsibility Today’s session on "Disruptive Technologies: Balancing Opportunities and Risks in AI" hit home for me. As we push the boundaries of AI at Konfront, especially in the fintech space, I’m more aware than ever of the need for balance. Innovation is exciting, but it also comes with a responsibility to build ethically. The discussions here have reinforced that the true power of AI lies in using it thoughtfully, ensuring it benefits people without compromising their trust. The Future of GTM: Staying Lean and Ready for Change The talk on lean Go-to-Market strategies for 2025 was a timely reminder of how important it is to stay flexible. With Konfront’s Product as a Service model, we’ve seen how quickly the landscape can shift, and this week is proving once again that agility is key. No matter how solid the plan, being able to adapt to changes is what will keep us ahead. AI Beyond the Usual Suspects AI’s application in the construction industry was a real eye-opener today. It got me thinking about how innovation can—and should—expand beyond the usual sectors. There’s incredible potential in industries we might not immediately associate with advanced tech, and this broader perspective is something I’m eager to explore back home. Inclusivity and Building Ecosystems The session on inclusivity and the importance of diversity was a highlight. Being part of both the U.S. and Latin American tech ecosystems, I’ve always believed that diverse perspectives are crucial to sustainable growth. SF Tech Week is a powerful reminder that creating inclusive spaces isn’t just about representation—it’s about fostering innovation that stands the test of time through meaningful collaboration. This is just the start. I’ll be sharing more insights as the week unfolds, but today’s takeaway is clear: While technology evolves rapidly, the relationships we build are what give it meaning. Here’s to more conversations, more connections, and more learning in the days to come.

Last month, Venture for Canada’s CEO and Founder, Scott Stirrett, spoke at Magnet Network Live’s “Think Outside the Box” session! 🙌 He joined powerhouse panelists Danielle Cadhit, Director of Systems & Strategy at Coralus, and Krista Pawley, CEO & Co-Founder of Wavemakers, for an unforgettable discussion about pushing boundaries and rethinking the status quo. 🌟 Scott highlighted how embracing uncertainty can drive innovation, transforming unpredictability into opportunity. As he puts it, “Organizations that will thrive in our era are those that see uncertainty as an asset.” He emphasized that for any company to survive the next decade or two, “You need to develop a mindset of constantly taking risks.” This approach requires thinking beyond conventional boundaries and staying open to innovation—or risk being left behind. The essential strategy is to balance both incremental steps and bold moves to remain impactful and forward-thinking. 😊 Building on this, Danielle explored radical capital innovation, illustrating how alternative funding models can empower communities. Krista delved into digital transformation, demonstrating how virtual reality and digital identity systems are reshaping education and the workplace. ✨ The session offered valuable insights, inspiring participants to think differently and drive meaningful change. 💡

Should impact be at the core of what we do as startups or is it just a nice-to-have asset? 🤔 Jump over the valupas page to get our take on this question. 👇
Last week our founders Ulrike Böttcher and Sarah Gràinne Jankowsky visited the #LTST24 organized by Female Founders in Vienna. We really enjoyed the positive vibes at the event that was shaped by unity, inspiration, and collective strength. 👭 Being an impact driven startup ourselves obviously one panel talk stuck out to us especially. "Impact as a Starting Point in Business." 👉 Here is our take on this topic: 💡 Everything we do, our words and our actions have an impact - so better make good decisions. For us this is especially true when running a business as you broaden your outreach and the influence your actions can have. 💡 For us impact and as a matter of fact sustainability are at the core of what we do. It is more than just a starting point or a nice-to-have add-on when setting up or growing a business. 💡We believe that impact is an important asset to a fundamental driver of success and innovation. 💡 We believe that impact can serve as an intrinsic motivator, helping the team to build up resilience and working towards a joined mission. 💡 We believe that impact and long-term profitability can go hand in hand and can provide a competitive edge. Looking at a lot of occurrences on our planet lately - we hope that more and more companies choose to think seriously which impact they have and how their services and products can add to a brighter future for all of us and our planet. 🙌 🌍 🐢 #impact #sustainability #circulareconomy #greentech

Standing by Principles: The Non-Negotiable Value of #Credibility "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I need to cancel last minute. And I respect you too much to ghost you. So I'm going to tell this to you straight: I cannot, in good conscience, share a stage with that person." A voicemail I left for an event organizer. Here's the story: Recently, I had the privilege of co-hosting an amazing full-day event for SF Tech Week. Organizing such an event is a monumental task with countless moving pieces. We had two stages featuring a mix of keynotes, panels, and an entire afternoon dedicated to pitching on one of them. You can read more about it at the linked post. Given the scale, I wasn't personally able to vet every speaker, presenter, host, judge, and pitching business. Neither were any of the other co-hosts. The other hosts and I understood that there's a certain amount of risk involved in an event of this magnitude. But with risk comes learning. We learn who stepped up and earned our continued trust. We learn who may need more support if we work with them again. We learn who is credible and who we want to collaborate with in the future. And we learn who is simply not credible—and whom we won't work with again. Mitchell Levy, CCS has taught me a great deal about credibility. One of the relevant lessons to this post is to always be respectful of the stage, the hosts, and the audience. During the event, I was invited to speak at another upcoming SF Tech Week event and was delighted to accept. The next morning I did my homework. I looked at the event page, looked up the hosting companies, and was surprised by what I found. The event was being co-hosted by someone I had just found to be extraordinarily not-credible; dubious, as Mitchell would say. But that's not emphatic enough to really describe my feelings for this person's behavior. I won't go into specifics; that would be disrespectful of me. Suffice it to say: this person's behavior was so disrespectful that I felt compelled to back out of the event. I found myself in the position of declining a speaking slot I had previously accepted. An uncomfortable scenario and situation, for myself and the organizers. The organizers reached out multiple times in hopes that I would reconsider. I understand—the challenges of losing a speaker on the day of an event are significant. I've been in their shoes, and I genuinely hope the event was a success for the other hosts. But it needed to be a success without me. Standing by our principles isn't always easy. But credibility and integrity are non-negotiable in our personal and professional journeys. https://lnkd.in/gcu9DhaR

Co-hosting #GovTechSF during #SFTechWeek was an incredible experience! With over 1,000 attendees, we had a packed house from start to finish! Highlights: #Panels on #AIforGood and Good for All, and #Generative San Francisco (which I had the pleasure of being part of), followed by Talk of Tech for TechTalk. More than two dozen demos showcasing innovative solutions. A fantastic pre-diligence curated pitch forum, where the feedback and outputs were extraordinary. The panels provided deep insights into how technology is reshaping public services, with discussions centered on media, energy, workforce strategies, and creating smarter, more connected communities. However, the real standout was the afternoon pitch competition. The room was packed for the entire afternoon as 10 startups pitched groundbreaking ideas to a panel of investors and industry leaders. The energy and excitement were undeniable, and every pitch had the room buzzing with potential. Thank you to TechSF, TechSF OEWD, SF Office of Economic & Workforce Development, the speakers, companies, and all the startups that made this event a success. I’m excited to see what comes next for public innovation! And a special thank you to the partners of the event, without whom this would not have been possible! Ken Nim, Martin Kirkwood , Pavel Vinitsky, PhD w/Synexis , Soniya Ahuja w/Orbis86 , Steven Echtman w/Aiify.io , Joshua Alphonse w/PremAI, Rene turcios & RJ Moscardon w/AImigos, and so many more! #GovTech #Innovation #TechWeekSF #Leadership
