Congratulations to the Geneva Graduate Institute and André Hoffmann for the launch of the new Hoffmann Center for Global Sustainability | Geneva Graduate Institute. Also congrats to André and Peter Vanham for their book “The New Nature of Business”. Great discussions at the launch of the Center about the systems change needed to value all capitals (human, social and natural), not just financial capital, and to integrate externalities into decision-making by creating common language and frameworks to value impacts and dependencies. Also important discussions about the need to stronger “build bridges” between the private sector, public sector, academia and civil society. Several big questions were raised: How to implement this type of systemic change in the most effective way? What are the key levers? Who needs to be engaged and pull those levers? How can incentives be changed in the system? And, very importantly, how can urgent priorities be addressed now? All these topics and more will be worked on at the new Center, building upon great work done by many players over the years including Capitals Coalition, Impact Management Platform, OECD - OCDE, UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub, GSG Impact and so many more. Key Highlights: 🔹 Engaged with thematic lectures on Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Waste Management. 🔹 Acquired practical skills in Design Thinking by Wolfram Thurm, Gamification by Sensing Local, and Theatre by Tahatto Theatre for tackling complex sustainability challenges. 🔹 Exposure to various unique initiatives like Sunbird Trust - Christopher Rego (Retd), Centre for Environmental Justice, Sri Lanka - Samadhi Hansani Premasiri, Climeworks - Trishna Nagrani, the echo network, India - Shannon Olsson and SETU, Nepal to name a few were an insightful and inspiring start to each day. 🔹 Voices from the field where we were virtually transported to farmer fields in remote places gave us deeper understanding of various situations encountered by them. As a passionate advocate for sustainability, I am eager to leverage these new skills and insights to drive impactful environmental and social initiatives.
