It's like the now privatised AIRINDIA LIMITED is doing everything that one would expect the erstwhile national carrier to have done. Celebrate India, its beauty and culture. This is my second post admiring the work done by their current ad agency McCann Worldgroup India. This video showcases our different classical dance forms from south to north to east to west. Its bright, lively gorgeous and very well shot. Much like the Vistara in flight video featuring 'Yoga' and it's different 'asanas' done by the same agency. While I did love watching this one here's the challenge, this is not an ad, its a safety video and there is a possibility that the actual message may get lost in the visual delight. Strong visuals often tend to overpower the audio track and unless you are a frequent flyer, the safety demonstrations interspersed between the dances may be difficult to follow here . Moreover, India still has a significant population of first time flyers. Is this what we want them to depend on? What do you think? #storytelling #advertising #mediumVsmessaging

This documentary is exactly how I summarise my rationale of choosing to move to Riyadh after my MBA from Les Roches Every morning as I drive to work in the city of Riyadh, there are multitude of cranes operating at an incredibly fast pace to bring Vision 2030 to life- to transform the social, cultural and infrastructural landscape in the Kingdom at an uprecedented pace with limitless innovation and imagination. Where else on the planet does one get to experience this transition at this moment? When possible becomes impossible due to dearth of time, we say its Saudi Arabia and it WILL eventually become possible. #Vision2030

The quest for entertainment or the crucial message of safety got lost! The recent example of Air India's safety video, featuring traditional Indian dance forms, highlights the potential pitfalls of prioritizing style over substance. While the incorporation of cultural elements may be visually appealing, it can also lead to confusion and distraction for passengers. In the midst of intricate dance sequences, passengers may struggle to focus on the essential safety information being conveyed. Instead of clear and concise instructions, viewers are left wondering about the significance of each gesture and prop used in the performance. This not only detracts from the seriousness of the message but also undermines the effectiveness of the safety briefing. #Storytelling can be a powerful tool in communication, but it must serve a purpose and align with the overarching goal. In the case of airline safety videos, the primary objective is to ensure that passengers are well-informed and prepared for any emergency situation. Therefore, any narrative or visual elements should directly support this objective rather than detract from it. Clear #communication is paramount, especially in situations where safety is at stake. Whether it's in the form of traditional announcements or innovative approaches like storytelling, the message must be delivered with clarity and urgency. Ultimately, the priority of airline safety videos should be to provide passengers with the information they need to stay safe during their flight. While creativity and cultural representation are important, they should never overshadow the importance of clear communication and adherence to safety protocols. Conclusion: the choice of communication medium should be guided by the nature of the message and the intended audience. While storytelling can be engaging in certain contexts, it should not come at the expense of clarity and effectiveness, particularly when it concerns matters of safety. By prioritizing clear communication, airlines can ensure that passengers receive the information they need to stay safe in the air. He had some brilliant anecdotal stories to share as we discussed: 💫 - Satcom Direct's approach to expanding its presence in emerging markets 🛰 The importance of tailoring #connectivity solutions to specific mission profiles, such as high-speed systems for head-of-state aircraft. 💫 The challenges in Africa due to limited local MRO capabilities. 🛰 The potential of #LEO #satellites for transforming aviation connectivity. 💫 #Cybersecurity measures and #sustainability efforts, including solar farms and carbon credits. For aircraft owners/ operators, Will's closing words of advice were: "Looking ahead we're all just going to consume more and more data. So having the right system onboard now will protect you in the future in terms of your investment and your return on investment as well. There will be frequent updates to the constellations, bringing faster speeds and advancements. It's important to seek the right advice, safeguard your aircraft investments, and ensure your security is well-protected."
