Thankful for my SLC meeting today. Even with the following hiccups. Drive to airport delayed with accidents. What’s a normal 20 min drive ended up being 90 mins, making my flight by 8 mins. Avis Budget Group didn’t have my fuel-efficient car instead gave me a full-sized SUV. American Airlines experienced mechanical issues so flight home was delayed 3 hours. Passenger across the isle kept the window open headed South with sunset blasting in my face the entire time. This video billboard ad was displayed in 2013 at London's Piccadilly Circus 👇 In 2013, British Airways ran a clever and attention-grabbing DOOH advertising campaign with the slogan "Look Up." This billboard was no ordinary digital display though. It was programmed with custom surveillance technology which could track overhead airplanes in real-time. Whenever a British Airways flight passed over the billboard, the ad would suddenly switch to video footage of a young boy pointing up at the plane, along with details displaying the aircraft's flight number and origin. The engaging ad was developed by the creative agency Ogilvy 12th Floor as part of a broader digital campaign for the airline. By reacting to the planes flying overhead in an innovative way, it achieved its goal of getting pedestrians to quite literally "Look Up" at British Airways jets crossing the London skies. This is a prime example of how OOH advertising can leverage new technologies to create surprising, delightful experiences that truly capture public attention. While digital signages are common today, this ad was pioneering for its time in using real-time data and video triggers tied to the surrounding environment.
