“Announced this week, Tinder has launched a national verification drive as its latest initiative to enhance user safety and build trust in online dating by encouraging users to be a Verified QT. This initiative has been brought to life with Wesnet. “Wesnet CEO Karen Bentley said ‘Sadly, while most of us use dating apps to find love, fun, and authentic connections, there is a small portion of the community misusing this technology. As advocates for ending gender-based violence, we know how critical it is for technology platforms to ensure the safety of online spaces for all their customers and members.’” Story: https://lnkd.in/ggWAFYFy #Tinder @Kirsty Dunn

Remember to keep your conversations within the safety of your dating app, trust but verify with a video call, and never send money to a love interest you haven't met in person. And hey, why not make it a team sport? Loop in your friends about your dating plans for that extra layer of security. #OnlineDating #SafeDatingTips

Dating after losing a spouse can be a challenging experience, but dating and community app Chapter 2 is making it a little easier. The app was founded by Nicky Wake, who lost her husband in 2020. After finding the online dating options for widows to be nonexistent, Nicky created Chapter 2 to give widows an online platform where they can connect with other people who understand what it’s like to experience the death of a spouse. Despite its challenges, dating after the death of a spouse can be an empowering experience. https://lnkd.in/djHR4KJA

All's not lost though. 1). The dating apps might innovate & the parent companies diversify. 2). *YOU* can gather your community regularly - have a party! host a rave for the intellect and ask everyone to pitch in & contribute! host a salon! invest in your community! And support those that are keeping IRL community thriving. The serotonin will FLOW hard. We want more right now, more authentic connection, more real community that makes us feel good and whole inside.

💕 How would you feel about the government setting you up on a #date? 78% of Americans are feeling burnt out from #dating, rejecting it completely. Dating apps like #Tinder, #Hinge, and #Match, have become staid obstacles rather than an asset in finding a match. They've become #expensive, with tier systems which feels exclusionary and punitive to those who don’t pay the #premium. Users are also perplexed as there seems to be a mismatch between the user’s goals and the app’s goals: 'if a user is successful, that means they’re losing a customer.’* As #birthrates decline and the importance of #social #connection becomes clearer**, will the US government follow other nations and enter the dating business? #Japan is leading the example with several successful government programs created to facilitate, support, and promote dating and #marriage. Governments are providing dating coaches, financial assistance, #matchmaking, and increasing safety measures for more vulnerable citizens. While ‘the interests of governments are much better aligned with those of love-seeking users than those of private companies,’ this level of intervention remains #controversial. Damaging past examples have raised concerns about the #ethics of government involvement in personal lives. These programs, while helpful, also fail to address the broader societal and economic issues that discourage #women from coupling and having children, making them a 'short-term solution to a bigger problem.’*** 🏦How can dating apps improve user experiences, online and offline, which foster connection and mental well-being? What research and insight opportunities can be found with the data dating apps are sitting on, which can be monetized ethically? 📰 Read the whole article here: https://lnkd.in/g4p3tuhQ 👣 Footnotes: *https://lnkd.in/gTFtkcGr **https://lnkd.in/geqsyjXd ***https://lnkd.in/g4p3tuhQ ****https://lnkd.in/gcMKqQDF

I came across this article that I found really interesting. It talks about how dating apps have revolutionized the world of relationships, pushing people to explore beyond their neighbourhoods, ethnicity, and sometimes even countries. It makes you wonder how much the virtual world is shaping our personal lives. Give it a read!#Relationship #Connection #Innovative #VirtualReality

"That’s one thing I love about Feeld: the app allows you to really get into who you are and what you desire for yourself. The relationship you have with yourself is arguably the longest relationship you’ll have in your life, and yet it is the one we neglect the most. We mistreat and deny ourselves; we are taught to be dishonest with ourselves." Article: No dating apps, no dates, no exes, no hookups: what’s driving the ‘boy sober’ trend? (Relevance for Employers) This article from the Guardian newspaper explains why women are giving up on using dating apps because of the abuse they incur mainly from men. The question is - why should they have to? Why arent the App owners/managers doing more to prevent online abuse? If every woman walks away from a dating app then it will fold. No customers - no business. It is business 101. Perhaps app owners should run a parallel app that contains the details of all the arseholes who have abused women including their contact details (phone numbers, addresses, work place if known, date and time abuse was posted). And them perhaps the abuse will subside. Narcissistics cannot hide when the whole world knows who they are. And any organisation checking what their employees are doing during work hours can see the date and time of abuse and if during work hours, take action and play their role in preventing the abuse of people, particularly women. And I would certainly want to know if any people who worked for me were engaging in inappropriate behaviour at anytime. It is time to punch back and take a tougher stand. https://lnkd.in/d5j9mrCh #onlineabuse #womensrights

5 Tips To Make The Most Out Of Dating Apps (We Know You're Tired Of Swiping) - Women

Accidentally swiping left and losing out on your soulmate can be a bummer. Fed up with online dating, young singles are looking to meet people in real life, and that's driving a surge in event attendance. Dating aside, the idea that people are proactively interacting with others is a good sign. How about we meet at chess club? For much of the younger "swipe" generation, the pandemic years arguably stunted their ability to socialize. Relying on phones, apps and online chats, the ability to interact and even approach someone hasn't come naturally if at all. Fast forward to today, and many young adults are finally coming out of their shell and driving up the popularity of live events, dating and otherwise. The big man on campus isn't so much anymore. Millennials and Gen Z are ditching dating apps for events. According to Eventbrite, attendance for these age groups is up 49% year-over-year. More interestingly, the rise of events coincides with a decline in Tinder users, suggesting a shift towards in-person connections. For anyone who's used dating apps, many have quickly come to realize it's a numbers game that more often than not yield little success. The wingman is ready when you are. Unlike typical dating scenes like bars and clubs (does anyone meet at church anymore?), interest-based functions can be a useful pseudo-sidekick for daters. And there's a good reason for that. For a generation that's suffered from a lack of social norms, these functions offer structure, while providing an appropriate level of comfort to actually approach others. As in life and work, we can all use a little more structure. IRL is a positive trend for our culture at large. Young adults ditching dating apps for in-person events is a win for real-life connections. Our increasingly anti-social society often makes deep relationships a rarity. The shift towards real-life interactions suggests a positive swing away from the virtual and potentially towards more meaningful connections https://lnkd.in/gYbE_FKk #dating #apps #culture #genz #millennials #society #relationships #events
