We asked our Management Committee to tell us a little about them and what they're looking forward to about our Spring Conference. Up first is our President, Jilly Rogers. 1. How long have you been a member? I have been a member of NCW since 2018. I was attracted to become a member when I was invited by a friend to an NCW meeting. I was inspired by the range of topics discussed and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the members: what a an inspiring group of women! 2. What interests you most about our conference programme? ‘Achieving Inclusion’ has attracted a wide range of speakers who will tackle topics such as digital inclusion, I’m so looking forward to hearing from Seyi Akiwowo, the inspiring founder of GLITCH and campaigner for women’s issues. Other topics like active engagement in sport, physical and mental health together with lots of opportunity to share ideas and ways to continue to make sure women achieve their potential. Professor Dame Lesley Regan will bring us up to date with progress with the influential Women’s Health Strategy for England: it’s always insirping to hear direct from the person responsible! There will also be an inspiring, fun dramatic performance to celebrate why democracy matters: #LoveYourVote 3. What would you say to encourage women from your area to attend the conference (especially non members)? ’Achieving Inclusion’ is a great opportunity for women (and men of course!) to engage with the national debate about using online services, about access to physical and mental health care and women’s engagement in sports. National women’s organisation, the National Council of Women of GB is bringing their spring conference to Grantham for the first time so do join us to debate these issues that affect us all. 🌟 Champions of Change - The Spotlight Series! 🌟 I first met Merima Mahmutovic through the fantastic European Women Payments Network (EWPN), where we co-led the organisation of the EWPN annual event in Vienna last year, attended by over 300 women and allies - What an incredible experience it was! Merima's passion for finance and diversity and inclusion is truly inspiring. She dreams big and makes those dreams a reality, driving change not only in the industry but also in her home country, Bosnia & Herzegovina. This year, Merima led a SEE regional event that brought together key players and influencers to discuss important topics and champion change. Her dedication to making a difference is a testament to the power of dreaming big and taking action. 🌐 What is the message here? In the words of Walt Disney, "If you can dream it, you can do it." Too often, we limit ourselves with beliefs about what we can achieve. But I say; "shoot for the moon, even if you miss it, you'll land among the stars". Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. ⭐ Call to Action: What dream are you going to start putting into action this week? 👉 Note: if you are interested in being involved in this year's EWPN annual event, we are holding this in hubs across Europe and there are speaking and sponsorship opportunities available - please contact [email protected] Join the revolution... #ChampionOfChange #Inspiration #DiversityAndInclusion #Finance #Leadership #DreamBig (Quote: Norman Vincent Peale)

Hey #nextgeneration, dear world, please watch this (again!). https://lnkd.in/d9D5bXaF Starting minute 18, Omar Farhate provides solid insights into youth participation in UN processes. Make sure to stay on for the Q&A. Youth participation is a year-round and multi-year process, it needs a lot of commitment and dedication, it is complex. And yet there are good news: there are many great opportunities and youth can indeed make themselves heard. (Find them in Omar's slides on video.) Engaging in the Youth Assemblies of the World Food Forum is one example. The more people are represented on a statement or positioning, the more relevance it will have. Be sure to be part of the voices and contribute to the processes! And: "Create consultation processes that are the most inclusive possible!" (in Omar's words), that way you will be taken more seriously by decision makers. For now: make sure to assist the World Food Forum Flagship Event in Rome, be it online or in-person. Get the taste for the Youth Assemblies. And please join the processes latest in the next round of assemblies! Your voice matters! #yourvoicematters #agvocates #NGINeers

A Milestone Event: Global Youth- Discussion: Level Up! What happens when vibrant minds converge to redefine innovation? We witnessed the answer at the Global Youth- Discussion: Level Up! event, hosted by DGC Youth Networks in support of the 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference. It was a day where emotions ran high—we laughed, we shed tears, and most importantly, we learned from each other. The air was electric with stories of triumph and perseverance as our panelists peeled back the layers of their impactful work. Their narratives weren’t just heard; they resonated, inspiring our attendees to share their own tales of youth advocacy. With over 150 attendees from Nairobi and beyond, we didn’t just have outreach after the UN Civil Society Conference—we amplified it. The discussions that unfolded have set the stage for ongoing dialogue and action. A standing ovation to our speakers who fueled this journey: ✨Tiah Knox of M’Adama Global ✨Nishat Mirza from the World Development Foundation ✨Naphtali Obed Akudung, our Captain Planet champion ✨Sulaiman Abubakar Umar of CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation ✨Christabell Opudo Omondi, the dynamo behind Mindscope Events Together, with the support of the DGC Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC), we had an event that was truly memorable. This is just the beginning. Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s innovate, collaborate, and create solutions that span the globe. Because when we level up together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve. #YouthInnovation #2024UNCSC #WeCommit #ActNOW

🌍✨ We are excited to be attending the Participation Forum 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia, on November 27 and 28! This event brings together around 150 participants from Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps National Agencies, civil society networks, and organizations across Europe to discuss democratic participation. Yesterday, New Power in Youth had the privilege of leading a session titled "Working Across Sectors and Learning from Each Other." Our presenters, Veronica Stefan and Aleksandra Mangus, shared valuable insights on enhancing collaboration across sectors to foster democratic participation. The presentation included case studies highlighting effective methods such as participatory budgeting, The Citizen Initiative Portal, platforms for voting, and the "NEETs for NEETs" project. In addition, Veronica and Aleksandra discussed the ongoing process of mapping good practices titled "Mapping Cross-Sectoral Practices," which runs from June 2024 until December 6th. We are actively seeking practices that are conducted in cross-sectoral cooperation and stimulate youth participation in democratic life. These practices should target young people or professionals working with them, feature inspiring methods that are non-formal, experiential, or alternative, and replicable. So far, we have gathered a variety of key practices, including: 🌍Participatory Budgeting 🌍Social Media Campaigns 🌍Online/Offline Courses and Skill Trainings 🌍Drama/Theater 🌍Socratic Dialogues 🌍Debates 🌍Deliberation Meetings with Decision-Makers 🌍Co-Creation of Action Plans and Policy Recommendations 🌍Events (Youth Forums, Plenary Sessions, Meetings) 🌍Qualitative Research 🌍Student Mobility (Exchanges, Camps) If you are involved in any good practices that align with these criteria, we invite you to contribute to our mapping process by sharing your insights through this link: https://lnkd.in/dwzq7rbt. As we look forward to exchanging experiences and building capacity, we are reminded of the power of collaboration. Together, we can inspire and empower each other to enhance democratic participation across Europe. 💪🤝 #ParticipationForum2024 #newpowerinyouth #civicengagement #DemocraticParticipation #erasmusplus #europeansolidaritycorps
