😵 Not quite the start to 2024 I had expected... 9 months into my new role as Technical Lead and Operations Manager at Alphageek in Derby, looking after all things web and SEO related, as well as heading up an impressive talent acquisition campaign, I received some pretty jarring news and found myself, along with two others in my department, are being made redundant. Considering I was working non-stop on various complex web projects, pretty much since day-one back in April 2023 until my final days (including some meaty eCommerce projects), this news came as quite a shock as you could imagine. It turns out, my company - where I had made new friends and was enjoying my accomplishments - had made a somewhat surprising decision and the key departments I looked after were being made redundant. The thought of going through another redundancy - where you're pretty much processed out of a role you enjoy and from a team you get on with, knowing the majority of your colleagues won't be aware what's cracking off, and suddenly having to leave without having any form of send off is one of the worst ways to leave a role. From (unfortunate) past experience, I knew that redundancy is nothing personal, but it still sucks big time. It was tough on me, and I know it was tough on those involved throughout the process - I'm not afraid to admit, this news pushed me to tears at times... 😢 And here I sit, posting this not only to shout out that "I'm open to work" (nudge, nudge, 😉 😉) but also to say that it's okay to get upset and emotional at going through the awful redundancy process. So, if you know of anybody looking for an experienced digital project manager, who knows their way around web and SEO, then feel free to give them a nudge, nudge in my general direction as I would be very much grateful. #opentowork #derby #digitalprojectmanager #webdevelopment #webdesign #digitalmarketing #seo
Keep going Wes, dont let them drag you down, but I hear you. You will find something. Things happen for a reason. I know that from past experience. I am really happy in my job now, they are out there.
Sorry to hear this Wes. Let me know if anything I can do from my end.
Damn, I'm sorry to hear this news. I'm sure people will want to snap you up for your expertise. Just only a matter of time.
Hey Wes, Sorry to hear this, hopefully a role comes your way soon but I will definitely keep an eye out and can send anything I hear about your way. Can you message me your email address?
I’ll have a good think Wes!

10moSorry to see this Wes. You don't know me, but I just wanted to comment so my network can see your post, and to offer commiserations. I was made redundant from a job I loved and I was sad & angry about it for months, probably years. It hurts. However, it turned out to be a good opportunity for me to find even better employment opportunities. I do hope you find yourself somewhere deserving of you. Best of luck
