Rachel Baron of AsiaEdit recently published results of their extensive testing of generative AI tools for editing. I talk about their findings in this new article: https://lnkd.in/eG7bvE94. In short, they found (not surprisingly) that neither chat-based tools like ChatGPT nor tailored tools integrated into Word were fit for editing without substantial human intervention and verification. Baron’s article is here: https://lnkd.in/ex_q_hWm, and if you’re thinking of using genAI tools to edit your work, I encourage you to read it. #AmEditing #LLMs #generativeAI

"aiOla's breakthrough in speech AI not only sets a new standard in the field but also illustrates the potential for future innovations that could further enhance the integration of AI in everyday business processes." (Fresh VentureBeat article on aiOla's unique technology, approach and impact to Practical Gen AI): "The power of turning spoken words into text may be seriously underrated — especially when it works as quickly and accurately as the new AdaKWS model from aiOla.... It achieves remarkable 94.6% accuracy in keyword spotting generally, outperforming OpenAI’s widely acclaimed Whisper model with its 88.4% accuracy, according to metrics shared by aiOla. It also works across 100 different languages, and transcribes the text in near realtime. The model can be trained for a specific customer “in hours,” according to Haramaty, learning “a new language, a new process, a new industry, new keywords we never touched. And we’ll be ready.” In a head-to-head benchmark test involving 16 languages, aiOla’s AdaKWS not only surpassed in accuracy but also demonstrated the ability to handle complex, industry-specific terminologies with fewer computational resources." https://lnkd.in/df6b8S-X

Are you using AI to support your creative work? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's come across a fair few posts and articles on here and thought to myself... did a human really write that? That's why it's generally not a good idea to include AI-generated body copy in the content you produce - and that's one of our rules at First Create The Media. Tell that to LinkedIn! As I'm drafting this post there's a big "Rewrite with AI" button popping up on my screen! (When did that happen?) That being said, I've still found tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to be helpful, and I'm not sure I'd survive without AI-powered transcription tools... I'm a visual learner! I need text, and despite the fact I spend most of my time typing, I'm still not very fast... How are you using AI? Let me know in the comments! Make sure to check out our recent blog post on our approach to using AI at First Create The Media. (And while you're there, maybe check out some of our case studies too...) 👇 https://lnkd.in/eNxzx3qU #agencylife #sciencecommunication #ai #llms #transparency

Citing AI is a work in progress. MLA (similar to Harvard) advise against using the Author field. The key identifier is now the Title field consisting of the prompt, or description of how the AI tool (named in the Container field) was used. The handbook includes examples. It’s out for consultation. #alwayslearning

Get ready--this is one of my OMGDNESS posts. The MLA has a new "template" out for citing AI--and it is based on PROMPTS. Frankly, I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around this one, but after I spend some time piloting it with my students, I should have a better idea about how to do this (and a LOT of comments for the MLA, I am sure!!). https://lnkd.in/eD7qNFK4 #AI #PromptEngineering #Prompts #MLA #AI #English

MLA citation style for AI sources. Am interesting solution: In this new style, the prompt given to the AI system is placed in the citation title slot. NOTE: There has been a lively discussion today (3/28/24) by commenters on Michelle Kassorla’s original post. The question is whether the MLA citation style for AI is practical, considering the extreme length of some AI prompts. Other solutions such as addendums and appendices have been proposed. Join the conversation!

For all you writers out there! In a world with generative AI, writers are relying more and more on ChatGPT. In an effort to be transparent Author Kester Brewin wanted to add an AI transparency statement for his book but couldn't find any. So he decided to make his own. The statement focusses on 4 key areas that needed to be covered when writing with AI: 1. Has any text been generated using AI? 2. Has any text been improved using AI? E.g. AI systems like Grammarly that offer suggestions to reorder sentences or words to increase a clarity score. 3. Has any text been suggested using AI? E.g. asking ChatGPT for an outline, or having the next paragraph drafted based on previous text. 4. Has the text been corrected using AI and – if so – have suggestions for spelling and grammar been accepted or rejected based on human discretion? You can read more from the article here: https://lnkd.in/d9jgh4y3

GPT-4o and we got free access. 📢 GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) 🥁 ☑️ GPT-4o is allowing interaction in the form of text, audio, and image and generates any combination of text, audio, and image outputs. ☑️ It can respond to audio🎙️ inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds, which is similar to human response time. ☑️ It will be available soon in your account. The design of GPT-4o is “less good for ordinary users. Less friction between asking an AI system to do something and it actually completing the task is good for ease of use, but it also helps us forget that we’re not interacting with sentient beings. We need to remember that, because AI is not infallible; it comes with biases and environmental issues, and reflects the interests of its makers.” #AIethics #humanbehaviour #chatgpt #userexperience #informationscience
