To further our commitments to equal opportunities and gender-friendly career advancement we've just launched a Gender Equality Plan (GEP). This new GEP includes recommendations for COST Actions and outlines the responsibilities of the COST Association. The idea is to encourage COST Actions to incorporate a gender dimension in their activities and provide suggestions on how to advance gender equality in what they do. We strive to promote an inclusive culture and create a ‘gender equality mindset’ among Action participants. There are many best practise examples already available within the community. We feature examples from ENIS Cost Action, COST Action CA22120 LeverAge, COSY COST ACTION CA21101, PEN@Hydropower, CA PRIORITY and COST Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance demonstrating how these networks have embraced gender inclusion into the fabric of their networks. The Gender Equality Paradox 📍Today, let's throwback to my print publication from a few years ago, where I emphasized the importance of balance in implementing Gender Equality programs. 📍My stance remains that it is crucial to prioritize outcome-focused design in gender programming interventions. 📍By doing so, Gender Program specialists can identify the need for targeted and inclusive approaches, whether it's women-only, men-only, or both. 📍Understanding these dynamics is vital, as Gender Equality encompasses a broad spectrum because our ultimate goal is to achieve equality where both men and women can exercise their human rights and freedoms with equitable access to all resources. Inclusion is a journey, and not a destination. While it may not always be perfect, it's important to acknowledge when progress is being made. To fully build an inclusive culture, everyone must feel that they belong, valued and empowered. To achieve that, the whole team must be involved in the transformation.
