Rumours of ChatGPT releasing a search engine are hotting up https://lnkd.in/e9hDyB6S I don't know about you but I am using ChatGPT to get answers these days rather than searching the web. The question is though, how will it search the web for you? It can't exactly scrape Google or Bing, so does that mean they are building their own database from the ground up? That would be a mammoth undertaking. However if I was Google, I would be worried. As marketers, this could be something very important in the future, and that is to say nothing of Google's own Search Generative Experience already launched in some parts of the world. More changes abound!

Every week, I share recent news about SEO and AI. This week’s top story is the release of ChatGPT Search from OpenAI, announced on Halloween 👻 Not long ago, OpenAI had announced that SearchGPT would be launched as part of ChatGPT before the end of the year—and it looks like the time is now. The “Google killer” offers real-time data on news, sports, and more in a conversational format, but is only available to Plus and Team users right now. Besides that, here’s what else has been going on in the world of SEO and AI: 😯 Google hinted at another algorithm update coming soon at a recent Web Creator Summit. It also advised creators to diversify traffic sources beyond search. 📉 Google now lowers rankings for content that’s different from the rest of your site. Recent casualties include medical content published by Forbes Advisor and product reviews from CNN Underscored. 💸 And finally, with a 12.3% YOY growth in search revenue, Alphabet shows an optimistic outlook for Google Search. We’ll see if this holds true once ChatGPT Search becomes more widely available. Find out more about each story in daydream’s latest newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/gEatsZwC

🚨 Hold up – ChatGPT can search the web now?! 🚨 OpenAI’s just announced that some lucky ChatGPT users get to try out its new web search feature. This could be a big move toward giving Google some real competition – less clutter, no ads, and the info you need without a hundred pop-ups. Nice, right? 🙌 But let’s be real – marketers have one burning question: When can we start running ads on ChatGPT?! With ChatGPT search rolling out, it’s only a matter of time before ad opportunities are too good to ignore. Imagine reaching users right where they’re searching, without the usual distractions and crowded space. SearchGPT might not be ready for ads yet, but we’re watching closely. ChatGPT Search, an evolution of the SearchGPT prototype it unveiled this summer, launched today. Built into OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform, ChatGPT Search says it's designed to give “timely answers” to questions. OpenAI says it is drawing from a range of online sources to serve information to the searcher, using the full search conversation to provide more intelligent responses. How this plays out for advertisers has yet to be fully seen. #chatgptsearch #digitalmarketingnews #openaisearch #openai #vujadedigital
OpenAI’s Google challenger, ChatGPT Search, is finally here. ChatGPT Search is designed to give “timely answers” to questions, OpenAI says, drawing from a range of online sources. Responses have both in-line and sidebar attribution to news publishers and other data sources OpenAI has licensing deals with. ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what you ask, or you can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon. https://lnkd.in/gZxz3tEz #chatgptsearch #digitalmarketingnews #openaisearch #vujadedigital

Will it just be a fad or will it eat into Google's search dominance? Rather than launching as a separate product, web search will be integrated into ChatGPT’s existing interface. The feature determines when to tap into web results based on queries, though users can also manually trigger web searches. https://lnkd.in/g2wt_VfS #GenerativeAI #GenerativeAISearch #GenerativeSearch #ChatGPT

Google is dying, Facebook is dying. Chat GPT is taking over! In the 2020s, do platforms ever get replaced? This is a really interesting article from Neil Patel highlighting the different use cases for different platforms. For example, we're constantly told Facebook is dying when Facebook is growing year on year. So is Chat GPT going to overtake Google? The simple answer is probably not. Google is still growing more quickly than Chat GPT and Gemini hasn't even gotten off the ground yet. Marketers need to understand that different platforms are used for different things.
