What is local Gov Drupal. Local Gov? Drupal is a content management system built by councils for councils. Is a distribution of the leading edge open source platform Drupal. It's a collaborative community where councils and suppliers such as ourselves all come together to share ideas. The platform enables councils to bring common functionality to their digital presence and therefore share costs. Councils can regularly communicate and decide the direction and future of the platform by contributing to the online Slack community. As touched upon in the opening slide, local Gov Drupal has an active Slack channel that acts as a touch point for suppliers, developers and councils. The channel holds monthly content and product group meetings. A technical channel that serves as a supportive resource for any technical questions you may have. And dedicated channels for all things microsites related form related as well as a whole host of other channels. In our opinion, the club creative nature of the platform is one of its standout qualities. The next thing we're going to cover is the platforms main core content types. Service landing pages are the top level section for each service. You can use the service landing page for the home page of its apartment. Summaries can be added under the page titles to provide further insights users about content. The primary function of a service landing page is to be navigational. Service pages are informational pages. Various types of content can be added using paragraph types. These include video, images, text, documents, and more. Directories provide filterable, searchable directories, services such as schools, libraries, leisure facilities, and more. Directories can be used when you need to provide information on a particular service type in the local area. They should also be used when content is related to a specific geographical location which is relevant to the user. For example, all libraries within the Oxfordshire area. The news content type in local Gov Drupal allows you to upload a press release and current events into a newsroom. He's a searchable, can be filtered by date and tags, and can be promoted to the home page. News articles can be populated content such as images, videos, quotes and more. Events allow you to upload upcoming activities into list format. These can also be rendered in a calendar format. In an event you can add an event description dates. These can be recurring. Webco has developed a consultations module which allows citizens to easily view, engage with and keep up to date with the latest consultations. Module has two distinct display types, a list view which shows all open consultations at a high level. And expanded view, which provides additional information about a specific consultation. Additionally, integration with Gov UK Notify was created and this allows users to sign up for automatic e-mail updates regarding consultations. Elections is a module developed by webcal to showcase election data by the upload of the spreadsheet. The system then extracts the data and presents it in a view to be published on the website. There's three main elements to elections. The first being an admin view which allows the elections team to create new elections. You've also got Website Display, which showcases the elected chairs, candidates and results on the web page. And you've got Carousel Display which is built for display of polling stations. This shows a revolving display of each Ward's results. The Micro Sites platform is a standalone microsite system which reuses many features from the main local Gov Drupal CMS. The platform solves a number of problems faced by councils. For example, many digital teams find themselves supporting numerous websites across departments and services. These sites often share functionality, but each is created in silo and often maintained by third parties with little oversight to the core web team. Councils spend considerable money, time and energy ensuring these sites are secure, up-to-date and accessible. The Microsites platform can help solve these problems. Using a single platform, digital teams can create multiple distinct websites that are easily updated and maintained. Once the system set up, a new site can be configured in moments.
