Our decision to close the doors on the Brighton Savoy Hotel is not just a sad footnote in Bayside business history; it's a glaring indictment of the Victorian government’s complete and utter economic mismanagement throughout Covid and beyond. For decades, this institution has stood as a hallmark of Brighton’s cultural and economic fabric, a symbol of resilience in a bustling SME sector. But today, businesses like these are being suffocated under a regime that has shown nothing but disdain and contempt for the viability of small-to-medium enterprises. The conditions for SMEs in Victoria are beyond dire.
