🌱 Project Highlight! - Smart Rain Garden in London (UK) A beautiful morning unfolded in North London as our colleague Anthony Kolanko participated in community planting, contributing to the installation of the Wavin innovative rain garden. This project is reportedly the longest continuous stretch of rain gardens in a residential area worldwide (!), marking the introduction of trees to the street for the first time since before World War I. 🌳 In total, 68 trees have been planted along with 0.5 kilometers of rain gardens, much of which will benefit from irrigation through infiltrated runoff, thanks to the sub-surface systems we've installed. If you look closely, you can see some of the irrigation lines that will be covered by mulch once the final touches are applied. 👍🏼Kudos to everyone involved in this initiative, especially the local residents who actively participated and got their hands dirty during the planting process. When designing a simple water-efficient on a simple home, looking at multiple ways to reduce water consumption is important. If you have landscaping close by to water sources like bathrooms, look at adding a filtration irrigation system attached to the sink that runs outside to water the plants, like below. Or even a recycled system from the sink to the toilet reservoir. PrecisionNC

Proper watering is key to reducing stress on plants during these hot, summer months. Let's face it. Companies invest a lot of money into their landscapes. Seasonal color and other plants are at severe drought risk currently. If not properly managed, the money invested will be put to waste. The more beautiful your landscape, the higher your property value and also, the easier it is to find and keep happy tenants. Residents across Perth and the South West are reminded to turn off garden irrigation to conserve precious water supplies for when they are needed most. Since 2010, the Winter Sprinkler Switch-off has been a vital water efficiency measure, saving close to 5 billion litres of water each year. This initiative supports the sustainability of essential groundwater resources and helps ensure long-term water supply security for communities across southern WA. All scheme and bore users in Perth, Mandurah, and parts of the South West and Great Southern are required to switch off garden irrigation during winter when lawns and gardens require less water. Hand watering is permitted, with some exemptions. Despite a dry lead-in to winter, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting average winter rainfall across southern WA, making this initiative even more critical.
