for Successful Project Management and Execution in Automation, DCS, SCADA, Control Systems Executing complex automation and control systems projects requires careful planning, coordination, and attention to detail. Here are the essential steps to ensure success: 1. Project Scope Definition: Clearly outline the project objectives, system architecture, and deliverables. Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements for Automation, DCS, SCADA, and Instrumentation systems. 2. Detailed Engineering & Design: Create comprehensive system designs, including P&IDs, control narratives, network architecture, and I/O lists. This sets the foundation for a robust system. 3. Hardware & Software Selection: Choose appropriate PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and instrumentation hardware, along with the right software platforms (like Siemens TIA Portal, Honeywell ControlEdge, or Yokogawa Centum). 4. Integration & Configuration: Integrate PLC, SCADA, DCS, and instrumentation systems. Ensure programming aligns with IEC 61131-3 standards for consistency and flexibility. 5. Testing & Validation: Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) to ensure the system works as per design specifications. Troubleshoot and refine any issues before final deployment. 6. Installation & Commissioning: Work closely with field teams for installation and commissioning of all hardware and software components. Ensure proper calibration and integration of all field instruments. 7. Training & Documentation: Provide hands-on training for operators and maintenance staff. Deliver complete documentation, including system architecture, control narratives, and operational manuals. 8. Handover & Maintenance Support: Ensure a smooth handover to the operations team. Establish a maintenance plan to ensure long-term system reliability and uptime. Executing these steps meticulously leads to project success, minimizing risks and ensuring smooth operations! #Automation #DCS #SCADA #ControlSystems #ProjectManagement #Instrumentation #IndustrialAutomation #FAT #SAT #PLCProgramming #Engineering #SystemIntegration #ProcessControl #Manufacturing #Industry40 #DigitalTransformation

PLC & Commissioning Engineer: The Heart of Automation in Automaze ⚙️Who is a Commissioning Engineer at Automaze? In simple terms, the Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the machine/line commissioning (startup) process. This specialist's primary role is to ensure the successful operation of the machine/line, including all its peripherals and interconnected equipment. The commissioning engineer also needs to ensure compliance with the electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic design, and often with the customer’s programming standard. An essential skill for the commissioning engineer is the ability to test, verify, and optimize the execution of the machine's program to meet specific requirements, such as cycle time. What sets apart a PLC Programmer from a Commissioning Engineer at Automaze? It's important to note that not every PLC Programmer is also a Commissioning Engineer; however, every Commissioning Engineer should have extensive knowledge of PLC programming. It's quite common for the Commissioning Engineer not to be the author of the PLC program, but they need to have the ability to modify/optimize the PLC program to meet specific requirements. So, what distinguishes the work of a Commissioning Engineer from that of a PLC programmer? While both roles are essential in the automation industry, they have distinct responsibilities and skill sets. PLC Programmers are responsible for developing and writing the PLC program based on the project requirements and the documentation of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical design. They mostly work in an office or lab setting. On the other hand, the primary task of the Commissioning Engineer is to bring the PLC program, along with all the accompanying instrumentation and devices, to life in the real world. Their main mission is starting up all the machine’s equipment, as well as downloading and testing the PLC program on-site (at our client's factory). Therefore, frequent business trips are typical for this role. (At Automaze, business trips make up between 60 and 70% of working time). What is the feedback from our specialists who have chosen to pursue a career as Commissioning Engineers? “The level of satisfaction is high when you can see how machines work!” Sometimes, the described roles might overlap, and specialists might perform both programming and commissioning tasks. At Automaze, this depends on the project and the client, but all our engineers are capable of excelling in any role. #MiniBlog #Automation #PLCProgramming #CommissioningEngineer #Engineering #CareerDevelopment #Automaze #Trójmiasto #ProgramowaniePLC

😂 How can a Siemens #TIAPortal PLC programmer make a commissioning engineer happy? 🚀 Hey #PLC programmers, do you want to know how to make your commissioning colleagues really happy? Here are the ultimate tips that will put a smile on every commissioning engineer's face: 1️⃣ Digital twin: Test your programs with a digital twin. Errors are detected and rectified before the real commissioning. Who wants to experience surprises? 🤖 2️⃣ Standard libraries: Always use the same building blocks from proven standard libraries. Consistency and reliability are the be-all and end-all. 📚 3️⃣ Uniform program structure: Stick to a company-wide standard. A clearly structured program makes life so much easier. 📑 4️⃣ Automatic code generation: Have the PLC code generated automatically (for example with the GROLLMUS #FactoryAutomationStudio). Highest quality without human error - that's the crowning glory! 🏆 So, dear PLC programmers, if you want to make your commissioning engineers happy, follow these golden rules. Your commissioning engineers will thank you for it (maybe even with a beer after work 🍻). You always wanted to be ⚡ up to date ⚡ in efficient engineering with #TIAPortal and Eplan?
