Last Deconstructed Farm Tasting Sets alert. When we launched our Deconstructed Farm Tasting Sets the other week, we naturally kept a few back in case we had to replace any that might have been damaged in transit. Happily they all survived intact – which means those last nine are still available. A cask strength sample of Bannow Island Single Farm Origin taken from each of the cask types we use in its assemblage, plus a sample of the new make spirit itself. What’s more, we recorded the special tasting with Head Distiller Ned, so you can watch along as you sample each one, learning how our Good Wood portfolio comes together for harmony as a single malt. And since they’re large 50ml samples, you can play around as Ned does with creating your own mini-cuvée. Just remember, we only have nine of these very popular sets left. First come, first served, and we’ll send the link to Ned’s tasting along with your purchase. Get yours here: https://lnkd.in/ecXhAwNR

“Originally, El Pomar was the almond capital of California with 1,375 acres of almond trees. Gradually the almond industry moved to the San Joaquin Valley for easier farming. Vineyards took over. There are more than 2,000 acres of vines today. This is a very special appellation; however, it is more of a growing region than where you will find wineries to visit. Many of the well-known wineries you know have vineyards here or purchase grapes from growers in this El Pomar AVA. ” Excerpt taken from the newest edition of the book: Exploring Wine Regions: The Central Coast of California #winelovers #booklover #winestagram #wine #grapes #winegrapes

"Farming as a whole has changed, with so many people farming to offset climate change... farming to reduce heat in the vineyard and within the canopy, which in turn then maintains acidity - and acidity is freshness." - Meghan Zobeck, winemaker of Burgess in Wine Spectator' California Cabernet Tasting Report. This November issue of Wine Spectator highlighted Burgess Cellars and Stony Hill Vineyard in the article, “New Directions in Napa Cabernet." The new 2021 California Cabernet release report also featured various Heitz Cellar and Stony Hill Vineyard Cabernet wines. Do you believe a non-mandatory collection of data would achieve sufficient coverage to make the National Vineyard Register (NVR) effective? This is one of the questions we are asking in our online survey (click here) to help determine what the grape and wine sector wants and needs from the NVR. https://lnkd.in/gEfeJzyZ Please share your views on the development of this resource which will be a comprehensive database of grapevine plantings across Australia and will capture details such as grape varieties, vine age, yield, vineyard size and location. We’ve extended the feedback deadline to December 13 to find out from sector stakeholders what the NVR should look like, the data it should include and how best to collect it. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Please read the NVR consultation paper here and take a few moments to complete the online survey here. https://lnkd.in/gqmUEvr3 Or send your thoughts via email to [email protected] If you’d like to know more, contact National Vineyard Register Project Manager Sandy Hathaway at [email protected] #aussiewine #nationalvineyardregister #nvr #grapegrowing #winemaking #wineinsights #australianwine #shareyourviews

As we approach grape harvest season, this blog post shares some insights: "Harvest season is every winemaker’s greatest dream and worst nightmare combined. Months of pruning, ploughing, and tending vines, through sun, rain, and frost, all lead to this critical moment. But nature doesn’t wait, and the pressure to get ripe, healthy grapes into the winery is immense! Each harvest is unique, and the challenges vary across the globe—whether it’s picking Malbec under the hot sun in Mendoza or Riesling on the steep slopes of Mosel. Preparation is key: ripeness, weather, and space must be perfectly timed to ensure the best results. During harvest, long days start before sunrise, with picking, sorting, and manual labor to move the grapes efficiently into fermentation. Oh, and don’t forget the relentless cleaning—because in the winery, cleaning is everything! At the end of it all, there’s a glass of #wine in hand and the satisfaction of being part of something extraordinary." Here’s to the 2024 harvest! #grapeharvest
