Sharing my 5 months timeline of jobsearch and restarting life and #data career in #toronto #Canada Here is the timeline: 📍End of Oct, 2023 - 1 recruiter screen from an Apparel company 📍Nov, 2023 - 2 recruiter screens from a Bank and almost #faang company 📍Dec, 2023 - 2 rejections from both Apparel and Bank company. Got qualified for a sql take home assignment at the faang company 📍Jan, 2024 - Rejected from faang company after attempting its final round, However, they called me again for another role 📍Feb, 2024 - Qualified for another take home project (this time it was for a week data analytics project) 📍Mar 2024 - After its final round, again rejected. Got called for a consulting company interview & current company interview 📍End of Mar 2024 - Consulting company paused hiring while I got the offer from my current company. Avoid asking software engineers and influencers for referrals. There are thousands of non-tech employees at FAANG companies, such as product managers, recruiters and sales executives, who rarely get referral requests. It doesn’t matter if the referral comes from them or a tech professional—it holds the same weight. Instead of competing with the crowd, reach out to these non-tech employees for your referral.
