It’s an unfortunate reality that domestic abuse happens within our country. It’s even more sad to realize that it happens so often that there are large nonprofits that take care of family members in these situations. Safe Harbor in Greenville “provides pathways for people impacted by domestic abuse to survive and thrive, and raises awareness of domestic abuse through community engagement and education.” Their services include a 24 hour hotline, emergency shelters, transitional housing, counseling, case management, and much more. There are quite a few ways you can get involved. You can donate in terms of money but you can also donate standard living items like kitchen or household goods, diapers and clothing for children, school supplies, and other needs. You can also volunteer to help carry out the vision of Safe Harbor. Consider helping families be free from the constraints of abuse. #greenville #volunteer #nonprofit

This is Jacqui, the Support Services Coordinator at Girikon's Client Organisation: Council of Single Mothers and Their Children (CSMC). Jacqui and her team provide single mothers with the specialist support and information that CSMC is known for. Now Jacqui is speaking out and asking for your help. CSMC's Support Line Workers say they have never had as much unmet demand as now, and the need has never been more acute. The need for support and information has always been high, but demand has skyrocketed due to the cost-of-living crisis. Single mothers who call CSMC's Support Line need help now, but the sheer volume of calls means that many are having to leave messages and wait for a callback. ANNOUNCEMENT: We're so thrilled to share that we now have subsidies for our outdoor play support programs. From the outset of our launching as a new charitable organization, we have been committed to access, equity and justice in our work, and that means we've prioritized our funding asks to include unrestricted funds that can be allocated to subsidies to remove barriers for children and caregivers to access our programming for free or with a minimal fee. As many of you know, in the start-up phase for any not-for-profit or charity, the financial needs are great, and determining what to ask for and when to ask it is a tricky game of capacity, timing, luck, and alignment to strategy. We wanted to make sure that as we build our internal capacity as an organization, we are equally committed to our vision for an equitable world, and we are building a community of diverse people who can access our services. We still have a long way to go, but we're happy to report that we have just secured our first funder who has committed to helping us create subsidized spots for children and caregivers to attend our Outdoor Play Grief Groups. Exciting news in the philanthropy world!
