A lot of things happened during my 42 days in the village I've realized that being an accidental last-born comes with a lot of responsibilities. Canceled my trip a couple of times to accommodate others (family), which inconvenienced me... But it made me realize that family is very important, without it, you're not living Saw my once-strong father, now weak because of old age, even though he pretends that he's still strong we know that age has caught up with him. He's a strong man, one who lost his wife to a strange illness, and his only daughter in a car accident. I don't know how he deals with it every day. I can only imagine his pain as his son, yeah, we disagree to agree on some things. Concerning Today Africa, I wasn't consistent in creating content, marketing, and reaching out to people for our podcast. But the strong foundation, which we are laying saved me as the head of content because it was during this period we collaborated with a Dubai-based company, MobiMatter (an eSim marketplace, check them out). I guess, they are impressed with what we are trying to build and decided to collaborate with us. Before we launched, we decided that we would take SEO very seriously. Just imagine what would have happened to us, and remember our website is just 7 months old... But with SEO, our organic traffic is growing every month. This is just the beginning. Let's keep building not just for ourselves but for generations that need to be heard. The power of happy clients! Last year, I met a self made millionaire business woman in Dubai, who has built multiple successful businesses and she doesn't have a single social media platform. Neither she has hired a digital marketing company. I asked her obviously !! (HOW?) 🙋♀️ 🤷♀️ She said, it's simple. serve one happy client. She said, while people spend hours and tons of money to create a video for hundreds of thousands of people; I create one video with my phone for my one client and send it to her/him on her/his WhatsApp. In the video, I speak specifically to them, explain everything in detail and even sometimes demonstrate the essentials they should be doing till we meet again. While people pop up in random inboxes and called calls, I call to check on my one client to see if everything was ok. While people waste time browsing through "useless" networking events, I stay late at work to listen to my one client speak his/her heart out. I have been in the business for 20+ years and I never had to do mass marketing because my clients did that for me. Lesson?
