Based on a new survey of 5,000 C-suite executives across 22 industries and 22 countries, if organizations flip the way they operationalize sustainability, they can significantly increase business value (numbers below). Yet, only 31% of organizations report they are incorporating sustainability data and insights into operational improvements to a great extent, and a mere 14% do so with innovation initiatives. Why? The study finds that these organizations 1) don't have access to sustainability data in core systems that drive the business and 2) they lack people skills at the right levels to drive better decision making. I think both those things are related - the lack of data limits the development of the muscle needed to understand and leverage it. At Makersite, we knew this.
