It’s going to be a Pitney focused week for me. First things first, I know how it feels to be laid off, my last stint was a little over 8 months and is well documented on here. If you’re finding yourself in that position I’m asking you to do two things: 1) Send me a DM, let’s connect and chat. I’ve learned a lot about LinkedIn over the years that I’d love to share with you and I’ve also got a pretty good network on here Id love to get you plugged into. 2) Find the thing you’ve been putting off because you didn’t have time. For me it was a YouTube channel, and having something that I could stay active at while struggling to land a new job was incredibly helpful. You’re not alone out there, I promise there’s a lot of great people on here that are more than willing to help. #supplychain #logistics #pitneybowes #unemployment #opentowork

I’d like to share an update and a story about my career change over the last seven months. My time at my previous employer came to an end around seven months ago. While I was there, I grew a territory from a few hundred thousand dollars to nearly $1 million in just three years. I had a lot of successes and learned a great deal during my time there. But at the end of the day, the health of the industry didn’t allow my wages to grow, and I felt very stuck. Ultimately, I held onto the hope of change for far too long. My hope wasn’t just about financial growth—it was about being recognized as a valuable asset to the company. After leaving, as I started interviewing and showing employers what I had accomplished, it became obvious that what I had done was substantial. I was given the opportunity to take over my own territory at Cintas Corporation. At first, after accepting the role, I had doubts. I wondered if I was really as valuable as I believed. Maybe I deserved to feel undervalued, as I had been at my previous job. But everything changed in my first month at Cintas—I caught fire. I performed so well that my training was ended early. Since taking over my territory, I’ve been ranked in the top 15 salespeople in my entire market for two consecutive quarters. Now, there’s even talk about adding jobs at my branch to support the new business we’re generating. This has been the most rewarding experience of my career. The opportunity to create jobs from my success and the success of the people around me has always been my goal. For three years, I lost a part of myself that was hungry, largely because I felt undervalued and unappreciated. At Cintas, it’s different. On a regular basis, I’m contacted by VPs, market managers, and even operations managers. Those conversations are always filled with excitement, gratitude, and appreciation. That level of recognition has been a game-changer for me. To contrast, at my previous employer, I closed the largest brewery contract in the company’s history during my final months there. It was a multi-location deal between California and Nevada. Despite that major win, I didn’t get a phone call, an email, or even a simple “attaboy.” If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this journey, it’s the importance of showing appreciation. To anyone reading this: recognize and value the people who make your company move in the right direction. At Cintas, we have a saying: “The spirit is the difference.” At first, I thought it was just a cheesy slogan. Now, I see it as the foundation of the incredible work environment we’ve built—a place where I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.

After waiting for over a month and a half following a referral for the DE&I Chief Officer role at VAMC Malcolm Randall, I received an email yesterday with some tough news—no one from the applicant pool was selected. Not going to lie—it's disappointing. But setbacks can be opportunities for growth, right? 💡 I'm planning to reach out to the HR hiring manager for feedback. Do you think this is the right step? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the value of asking for feedback after a missed opportunity. Has anyone been through something similar? How did you handle it? Let’s keep moving forward 💪 #JobSearch #Resilience #CareerGrowth #FeedbackMatters #OpportunityInSetbacks

A short story with a great outcome on why people relationships matter. Relationships with people are my "why" for what makes work meaningful for me. I've always been a big believer in building strong relationships with the people I work with, and also the people whose paths I cross with in various ways both big and small. When I look back on my career, I can attribute each stop along the journey and my favorite work experiences to one or more of these relationships. I will always remember taking a reference call in January 2020 with Dini M. when she was making her first SC hire at Lattice. That 5 minute call quickly turned into 30 minutes, I remember thinking to myself after we wrapped -- "we're going to work together one day." And sure enough we did when I joined Lattice in late 2021 to lead & scale the Solutions Consulting organization. My experience during my time there will always be a highlight of my career and I grew considerably as a 2nd line people leader with new skills that I'll carry with me for the remainder of my career. More recently, earlier this summer I made the decision to get back to my passion, which is leading pre-sales SE/SC teams. One of the first people I connected with was Katie Meyer, who I met 3 years earlier when she was leading the SC team at Outreach. Although I landed at Lattice, we stayed in touch along the way - I've always admired her leadership style. As luck and good timing would have it, she was beginning the hiring process for an SE leader in North America at HiBob, which is now my new home leading the North America SE team. Although I'm just getting started, I'm excited for the journey ahead to help build a world-class SE organization with some truly world-class people. More to come and lots to look forward to, but today I find myself reflecting on the importance of relationships and the impact they've had on my life and my career. #peopleleadership #relationshipsmatter

Happy Friday everyone! Thanks for all your help spreading the word about Black Powder Search and for those of you who've checked out our website (blackpowdersearch dot com). Our community of “triple-vetted” talent is growing and so is our community of business partners so thanks for all the support. In case we've never met... Black Powder Search is a purpose-driven executive search firm that specializes in placing Special Operations veterans with degrees and business experience into leadership roles at small and medium-sized businesses across the nation. Our community not only places these veterans, but provides a community to help them thrive in their personal and professional lives. They’ve given everything for their country and they deserve to live in abundance, and we aim to make that happen. Special Operators have spent the last 20+ years not only surviving but thriving in some of the harshest conditions the world has to offer, and there’s no reason American businesses shouldn’t benefit from their skills, expertise, and unique perspectives. If you know a Special Operations veteran who has a degree and business experience and would benefit from joining our #community, please tag them or share this with them. Likewise if you know of or work at a #business or #privateequity firm that needs #leadershiptalent, introduce us or reach out so we can help. Have a great weekend everyone!
