Flight training is not one straight line where you put the money on the table and at a drop of a hat, you’re done. There are many moving parts that come in this journey. Believe me, it can take a toll. For example, If it’s not weather, an aircraft has gone for a technical check, or the environment may not be conducive for learning. That blank space when one is not flying is very important. I now understand why most airliners locally will ask for a degree or a skillset outside of flying during the interview stage. The downtime around flight training is the perfect environment to either harbour a vice or sharpen a skill. And thanks to my media background, Videography is what keeps me busy. Videography for clients on the other hand has its fair share of back and forth especially if the work has a team of people going through the work. Varied opinions and suggestions (which is normal) It can be daunting at times. What makes me happy is that I get to to learn new people skills, go to new places and make some money to pay for flight hours. So Yes, I will hold that Camera, Sit down and Edit the clips and sometimes cover myself up in the bedroom to get that perfect Voice Over done. Its Possible. #NewSky #FlightTraining #CareerTransformation #SkillSet #MakingOfAPilot

The Advanced Air Mobility ("AAM") ecosystem needs more immersive experiences of what hopes/wants/proposes to come to our communities. Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is in New York (Queens) adjacent to LaGuardia Airport headed up by Sharon DeVivo. Great partnership! Budgets are growing as production scales up. Investment dollars, and revenue, flow through the ecosystem. Joby Aviation is finding a way. Continue to gain approval, and commitment of future resources, to my immersive experience operational showcase. Believe a great team is taking shape. This is a win-win-win for NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration - U.S. Department of Transportation - Federal Aviation Administration.
Super excited to partner with Joby Aviation to host their simulator on campus until March 5 where already nearly 300 students, industry partners and elected officials from across the region have flown this high-tech, quiet, four-person air taxi. Joby is an amazing partner deeply committed to building a workforce pipeline that will serve the burgeoning field of electric vertical lift and takeoff vehicles coming to NYC. So goes NY, so goes the world! #vaughnconnections #jobyaviation

Here’s how you can build experience and advance your aviation career: Entry-Level Jobs (200 Hours) Just earned your CPL? Your first opportunities will likely involve: ✅ Aerial Photography, Surveying, or Banner Towing Gain valuable Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time flying single-engine aircraft in real-world conditions. These jobs are often part-time or seasonal but are an excellent stepping stone to build hours and industry connections. ✅ Flight Instructor (200 Hours) Add a Flight Instructor Rating to your CPL to unlock a high-demand role that lets you quickly accumulate PIC time while training new pilots. With opportunities to upgrade your rating (Class 4 → Class 1), this path also offers job stability and work-life balance. ✅ Float Pilot A seaplane endorsement opens doors to seasonal floatplane jobs, flying for fishing guides or cargo operators in remote areas. These roles provide unique flying experiences and valuable PIC time. Advancing to Low-Time Jobs (500 Hours) Once you’ve logged 500 hours, new opportunities emerge: ✨ Skydiving Pilot: Fly frequent trips, perfecting your takeoffs and landings. ✨ First Officer Roles in Medivac or Cargo Operations: Step into two-crew operations on aircraft like the King Air or PC-12. The Future of Maritime Training: Synergizing Simulators and Expertise As the maritime industry evolves, traditional training methods are no longer enough. To prepare the next generation of mariners for the complexities of modern seafaring, we must integrate cutting-edge simulator technologies with the invaluable expertise of Masters and Chief Engineers. Advanced simulators offer realistic virtual environments for immersive learning, allowing students to develop practical skills safely. However, simulators alone cannot replace the real-world knowledge and judgement of seasoned professionals. By merging these two resources, we can create a synergistic learning experience that enhances training exponentially. Imagine a Master guiding cadets through simulated voyages, sharing insights on navigation and crisis management, or a Chief Engineer demonstrating troubleshooting techniques in a virtual engine room. This integrated approach fosters mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and the development of essential leadership and problem-solving skills. Implementing this new paradigm requires investment in simulator technologies and collaboration between industry stakeholders. The benefits, however, are immense – producing technically proficient mariners imbued with the wisdom of experienced colleagues, ultimately enhancing the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the shipping industry. The future of maritime training lies in the strategic blending of cutting-edge tools and irreplaceable human expertise. By revolutionizing maritime education, we can secure a brighter, safer future for our entire industry. The time to act is now.
