As the only inner-city suburb in Auckland without a BID, Grey Lynn has been missing out on numerous benefits. But that’s about to change! Becoming a BID will empower us to transform our neighbourhood into an even more prosperous and dynamic area. Here’s what it means for Grey Lynn business: Economic Growth: A BID can drive economic growth by supporting local businesses and attracting new opportunities. Infrastructure Improvements: We’ll have a stronger voice in advocating for infrastructural enhancements that benefit everyone. Networking Opportunities: The BID will foster connections among businesses, creating a supportive network. How can you get involved? It’s easy! Here are three steps: Stay informed and help spread the word: Share the news about the BID’s benefits with your business neighbours - it’s a win-win for everyone! Thank you Small Business Britain for giving me a great laugh! Casually scrolling through my feed, I came across a post by the fab SBB team at the Labour Party conference, spreading the word about our fabulous small businesses. One of the photos they shared was this one, and I am SO grateful that as an organisation they always include image descriptions, not just for their static images, but also a description for their videos too - top marks there for accessibility! Well my not so great eyes looked at this photo and my brain was like, why have they shared an image of a row of white toilets with the lids up?! I mean, really! Yes, this is what happens when you are missing most of your central vision, what you can see is blurry and indistinct. The brain does an awful lot of filling in the blanks, with hilarious outcomes! So the moral of this story is…? Yes, you’ve guessed, it - always include an image description! They are essential for accessibility and inclusion!
