In 2022, I embarked on a crazy journey to unlock a Trezor hard wallet holding over two million dollars worth of cryptocurrency. It felt like a wild goose chase, each step filled with tension, anticipation, and ridiculous commentary in my group chats. As we got closer to cracking the wallet, we realized that there were many others out there facing similar predicaments, desperately needing help to recover their lost digital fortunes. When Joe Grand finally succeeded in freeing my coins, it was a moment of immense relief and high-fiving. But more importantly, it sparked an idea. We saw an opportunity to assist others who found themselves locked out of their cryptocurrency treasures. Thus, OffSpec.io was born—a company dedicated to helping people recover passwords, private keys, and other crucial cryptocurrency data from hardware and software wallets. #Bitcoin is decentralized. This means that anybody can download the software from bitcoincore.org and participate in the network.

If you've been actively following the recent events on the Bitcoin Network (I'm not only talking about the recent halving), and you were trying to use the testnet network to perform tests on your applications, you might have seen how difficult it was to test your functionalities and apps due to lots of pending transactions in the mempool, leaving your transactions waiting in queue for a very long time. It all began with an aidrop being promoted by a Bitcoin project and the distribution was based on transactions that interacted with their platform. But turns out, instead of manually submitting transactions through a web wallet, in a very slow process, I created a tool that ended up being responsible for flooding the network with millions of transactions. It works by splitting an initial big UTXO (usually 20.000.000 to 100.000.000 SATS) into thousands of outputs, that serve as commit transactions for the BRC20 protocol, and that are spent at a later point to reveal the data contents of its inscription. It works with pretty much with any Ordinal token protocol, and a single user can create up to 200.000 transactions in a single time, all at once very easily. I wrote a long read about Rollups as a potential Bitcoin scaling solution in SatsBridge, GmbH -- Сonnecting the Lightning Network and EVM L2 protocols blog a while ago. Galaxy came out with very good arguments and numbers as to why rollups are very limited. "Bitcoin L2s" who claim more are likely lying to you. > Bitcoin blockspace simply cannot facilitate 4-8 Rollups posting 100KB-400KB proofs every 6-8 blocks without leading to exorbitant fees for all users, including the Rollups...ZK-Rollup using Bitcoin for data availability will need to generate approximately between $459k and $2.3m in monthly revenue from L2 transaction fees to operate profitably in a 10-50 Sat/vByte fee rate environment. There is a caveat, though not mentioned in the article. John Light proposed a way to build a layered cake of rollups L2->L3 and, by that, increase their capacity and reduce costs, but it will make them less reliable and demand additional time for development. Lightning network is most though of as a solution to Bitcoin scalability problems. While I agree, it is one of the solutions, I think it has much more important use-cases. I think it is the payment protocol of the internet that can be used for settlement of various payment methods. Instant finality, programability, atomicity, no history (no "tainted coins") and low fees make it ideal for settling any kind of transaction.
