This letter reflects a growing unease among creators about how their work is used to train AI models, often without permission or compensation. The concern is that AI, when used irresponsibly, could not only misrepresent the original work but also diminish the value of human creativity and effort. The situation in the music industry serves as a powerful reminder of the broader implications of digital content misuse and the importance of ethical standards in the development and application of AI technologies. https://lnkd.in/gt4AWZ8r

Couldn't agree more: "I hope that Suno will clarify what their models are trained on. We should be supportive of generative AI companies that respect creators by licensing the training data they use. We should not be supportive of those that don’t. The only way for the music industry and the generative AI industry to co-exist in a mutually beneficial way is within a framework of training data licensing. Without licensing, AI companies are unfairly exploiting creators’ work to build competitors to those creators." https://lnkd.in/eKgQiT4S

AI, particularly generative AI, provides promise of great economic and societal benefit, however content ownership and usage must be protected. One of the challenges is the proverbial black-box effect making it difficult to tie the output to the ingredients used to make it. At the extremes there are some, like these startups and very large firms (OpenAI comes to mind) that would prefer to not value the content used. Often they say proper content use and valuation will impede progress and it is unworkable. This is similar to the content grab / use by previous firms like Google, but even more harmful to content creators and the market overall. (imho) What is (was) missing in the market right now is the ability to see through the black box and efficiently determine how content has contributed to the AI results. At Authentrics.ai we recognized this gap in the AI/ML market and created a solution that can easily determine the composition of the NN and provide quantitative measurement of how content contributed to its results. Think of it as 23andMe for content within the AI.

AI Meets Music: Innovation or a Risky Hit? 🎶🤖 Google’s DeepMind created Orca, an AI music generator so advanced it mimicked artists with jaw-dropping accuracy… but it was too risky to release. This highlights a critical tension between innovation and intellectual property rights in the creative world. At Inktel, we’re inspired by the potential of AI to transform industries, but we also recognize the need for responsible innovation that balances technological progress with ethical standards. What’s your take on this? Should AI push boundaries at the risk of disrupting industries, or do we need stronger protections before unleashing tools like Orca? #Inktel #Innovation #AI #MusicIndustry #EthicsInTech #CustomerExperience https://lnkd.in/emPccVCT
