Is SaaS dead? (eye roll..) I worked with SaaS. I’ll probably continue to work with SaaS. Some article (link in the comments) was presenting the following trend: ⇒ Growth will slow down ⇒ People are being fired ⇒ Budgets are being cut Think about yourself: you have a lot of subscriptions (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Story-whatever) and at one point you realize it’s too much. You’re not using all of them, so you start dropping some. The same applies to a business which uses a lot of SaaS. Some are going to be dropped. That’s what the article is about. And I resonated. Oh yeah, not to mention the whole A.I. funding BOOM – stupid, obviously. They are in for a disappointment. There is a silver lining, however: “The SaaS spending has increased over 10%, nearly every year since forever” – ha, ha! Sooouhh, my conclusion is the same as in many other situations (when you’re looking for a job, when you fear A.I. will replace software engineers): ⇒ Maybe the times are tough, and maybe the times will get tougher still, but as long as you’re customer-focused, and you solve the REAL problems, everything will be alright.

4 SaaS scaling secrets to 10x growth (without crashing) Ever wonder how top SaaS companies handle explosive growth? We’'ve helped dozens scale from 100 to 100,000+ users. Here's what works: 1. Cloud-first infrastructure Ditch on-premise. Embrace AWS or Google Cloud. Why? Instant scalability when you need it most. Pro tip: Design for horizontal scaling. Add servers on demand, no sweat. 2. Automate or die As you grow, manual tasks become quicksand. Automate everything: • User onboarding • Customer support • Billing • Updates Your team stays lean. Users get consistency. Win-win. 3. Microservices > Monoliths Forget one massive app. Think Lego blocks. Break your app into independent services. Payment processing exploding? Scale that piece without touching the rest. 4. Monitor like a hawk Flying blind = Crash and burn Use tools like New Relic or Datadog religiously. Track: • Response times • Server load • Error rates Spot issues early. Fix fast. Sleep better. Combine these 4 strategies and watch your SaaS soar. What's your biggest scaling challenge? Drop it in the comments.

The first SaaS idea that I put work into was... let's say that I am embarrassed to be even talking about it. It was called Amethyst Platform. And I wanted it to be a platform for deploying applications in a cloud, without worrying about server management, networking, storage, etc. Just write a YAML file with the specs of your app, run `amethyst deploy` and get done with it. Kind of like Kubernetes... But I was reinventing every wheel from scratch. The control plane, the underlying data, the worker controllers, etc. I got to a state where you could deploy a hello world container, and jobs that were running on a schedule. Then I thought... what if I actually leverage Kubernetes, and just translate the YAML for my platform into Kubernetes YAML? And so I did. And then it hit me: am I actually building an alternative to Kubernetes, but on top of Kubernetes? I was... So I scrapped it, deleted all the cloud resources, and killed the project. I realized that I would need to put a few more months to have a real MVP, and to turn it into a real business, I would need to do all the rest, such as sales, contracts. It was a B2B business, that was aiming to get into a market where reliability is critical. If my app would have an outage, there will be financial consequences. That's not a market you want to get in as a solo founder. So that was the first lesson I learned: manage scope, solo founders should go for smaller scopes, and also, make sure your solo indie business doesn't target some foundational layer for other businesses. It greatly increases risk, and companies are less willing to pick up a new untested solution for something that is critical to them.

Charging people as much as you can get them to pay (instead of a modest margin on your costs) is a terrible strategy. It makes customers resent you and spurs competition, including DIY solutions. It also locks you into higher pricing and exposes you to disruption. Amazon understands this well and kept AWS prices low long before any real competitors emerged. However, so much of the saas “advice” out there says to do the opposite. We are winning deals from competitors without them knowing because we come in at half the price and close before customers trial other products. So yeah, don’t do that, unless you sell dev analytics software, then please continue.

How to price your SaaS product? When to charge? What signals good traction? What unit pricing? There are many mistakes you can do when it comes to SaaS pricing. You can recover most of them. The main mistake to avoid: position yourself on price. It's a race to the bottom that typically ends badly. https://lnkd.in/eESVXMKB

Time to dive into the world where our coffee seems less jittery than our minds—yes, I'm talking about SaaS products ☕💻. We've all interacted with a Software-as-a-Service platform, whether it's managing your company’s bottom line or chillin' with the latest streaming marathon session. But today, let’s explore more than just the user interface; let's dig into why SaaS is more than just software on the cloud. Ever wondered why SaaS is the rockstar of the software world? 🤔 Here are a few key reasons: - **Scalability**: Need more seats at the table? SaaS says, Welcome aboard! It scales with your business needs without a sweat. Try asking a traditional system the same and watch it blow a gasket. 🚀 - **Cost-Effective**: Why pay for a suit when you only need a tie? SaaS allows you to invest as you grow, optimizing costs without sacrificing functionality. Smart spending is the new black. - **Accessibility**: Whether you're sipping tea in Tokyo or typing away in a Texas diner, SaaS ensures you're just a click away from your work tools. Say goodbye to being desk-bound! 🌏 Yet, let's not forget about the other side of the coin. Every silver lining has its cloud (pun intended): - **Data Security**: Your crown jewels (a.k.a. data) are only as secure as the moat around them. It's crucial to make sure your service provider stacks up in the security department. - **Dependency**: We've all experienced the moment—Wi-Fi goes down, and suddenly you’re in the dark ages. Your SaaS solutions are only as reliable as your internet connection. Yikes! On this SaaS superhighway, remember we’re not just technology consumers—we’re transformers of how business gets done. We're not just buying a service; we’re investing in an operational mindset. So, the next time you log into your fave SaaS product, embrace the freedom of possibility 🎉. Transform your challenges into opportunities, your thoughts into innovations, and if you can, your chaos into order. SaaS isn't just the tool for today; it's shaping the future we’re all writing together. What’s your favorite SaaS superpower? Share your thoughts below, and let’s start a conversation. 🌟
