Recent events have certainly stirred up the markets! The failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump this past weekend sparked a notable rally in crypto prices. The momentum continued into Monday's Asia session, driven by significant programmatic buying of #BTC on Coinbase from 5am to 1pm SGT (a highly unusual flow for Sunday evening in the US). It appears the market is interpreting this event through a historical lens, reminiscent of Reagan's post-1981 trajectory, reflecting positively on crypto due to Trump's overt support. We think that the market was already positioned for a rally with the German government having exhausted their supply and also with large hedge funds aggressively buying calls last week. #Trump was the perfect trigger for a market raring to go long. While the article below points to Crypto; the main event is certainly the arrival of Bitcoin ETNs to the UK market. The hard money revolution is accelerating across the globe with adoption and inflows at unprecedented levels against an absolutely finite asset. Just think about this.... There are only 21MM bitcoin that will ever exisit and currently over 47 Million Millionaires world-wide. Now consider that maybe only 200 thousand or so individuals or entities will ever have the ability to own a whole Bitcoin (due to massive accumulation by nation states, corporates and early whales). The introduction of spot BTC ETFs has been a significant milestone in bringing exposure to digital assets within traditional investment framework. The other thing about ETF's is that if you can get them to work, in Hong Kong, you can use bitcoin and ethereum to comply with the professional investor rule. Before, someone who was interested in crypto had to put their money in HK securities or cash in order to be a PI. Also the way that HK works is that you have a lot of people who are middlemen. The whole point of the ETF system is to do stuff with bitcoin but to make sure that the vast army of middlemen get paid. So a lot of the rules are invented so that you have to go through a dozen hoops and along the way X, Y, and Z get their tax. The difference between HK and somewhere like India is that the middlemen in HK do not have monopoly power. If they rules are too stupid, and you have to go through too much pain, then you just fly off to Singapore or Dubai and so there is pretty on all three places not to introduce rules that are too stupid. So this only works with a small place. For example if you go to Caymans and BVI, you will find that to open a company you have to get rubber stamped by some people that are making a ton of cash there. But the fees are low because you just have to spread the cash among 30k people. You can run Caymans like that. Also Hong Kong is basically a city of bankers and you can run a city of 7 million people with everyone being a banker or associating with banking. You couldn't run a *nation* with everyone being a banker, because people would starve.

🚨UK FCA approves London Stock Exchange listing of Bitcoin and Ethereum Exchange Traded Products🚨 🔴 FCA approval The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority approved prospectuses from 3 issuers today:  WisdomTree, Invesco and 21Shares – all understood to be linked to crypto-linked products.   🔴 LSE announcement ➡ There was also an announcement from the London Stock Exchange yesterday - an update to Stock Exchange Notice N03/24 of 25 March 2024. ➡ The March notice had that stated Bitcoin and Ethereum Exchange Traded Notes may be admitted to trading on or after 28 May 2024. ➡ Yesterday’s announcement provided an update on the clearing arrangements. ➡ At the time of listing, the ETPs will only be available to professional investors. 🔴 What else do we know? ➡ WisdomTree’s prospectus will enable it to list the WisdomTree Physical Bitcoin (BTCW) and WisdomTree Physical Ethereum (ETHW) ETPs on the London Stock Exchange. ➡ This is expected to be on 28th May (the earliest possible date). ➡ More information expected from the other issuers. 🤔 What are they? ✅ Exchange Traded Notes (ETNs) are debt securities which provide exposure to an underlying asset. ✅ Crypto ETNs that track the performance of an underlying cryptoasset are traded on their own dedicated trading segments. ✅ They enable investors to trade securities which track cryptoassets, on-exchange, during London trading hours. ⏰ What next? ➡ Expect to hear more from the issuers, FCA and LSE. ➡ News expected on ETH ETFs in the US tomorrow. #londonstockexchange #lse #fca #crypto #cryptoassets #digitalassets #ETN #BTC #ETH
