It's so daunting leading an organisation – of any scale. In pitches and discussions, the topic of marketing is tabled a lot. For a company 4 years in, we really should be reviewing our marketing strategy to "put ourselves" out there. The sentiment is great, but the reality is a double-edge sword when you're the one making the decision on where to allot your human and monetary capital, along with available resources within a limited timeframe. Do you focus on the integrity of building the product or do you sell fluff in an attempt to lure in numbers? And at the end of the day, what numbers matter more? The marketing bump or the value of goods sold? Running an internal small outfit while leveraging on the strength of our partners have led us to building a culture that is inclusive, actively thinking, and open. In preserving this culture, one of the principles we practice is to prioritise what is important for the overall and in the long run. It takes time to groom the next generation of creatives, they are not sufficiently developed fresh out of school to perform at high stakes without guidance. Marketing effectively requires knowledge and market sensitivity, both of which can only be gained through the guidance of a senior. For us, we prioritise the transference of our senior's skills to juniors so that they can independently run projects under our banner. At XZV Studio, we started succession planning before our office doors opened and that will remain a law of establishment in our operation. In that, always product first. But in the interim while we have a spare minute between our actual work and marketing persona, here's a Mid-Autumn greeting from our office to your outfits. Wishing everyone great harvest in the coming years ahead. (We really do forget the day of the week, let alone creating social media artwork! But yes, we shall try our best to share more and make a habit out of it.)
XZV Studio wishes everyone a joyful and luminous Mid-Autumn Festival! May your nights be filled with mooncakes, lanterns, and cherished moments with loved ones. Happy Mid-Autumn! 🐰
