Hey connections, Ever wonder how embedded systems save you from crashing in Panic breaking.? 🏍️Imagine you're cruising peacefully at 70+ km/h on your bike on wet road, when suddenly, an idiot driver merges in front of your lane without indicators. 😨In that moment, your instinct will be to slam on the brakes and change lanes. But this could lead to hydroplaning (skidding), and if you try to turn while skidding, you're risking a serious crash..! ✴️ especially if your bike doesn’t have ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). 🚨ABS detects if the wheels are skidding and regulates braking accordingly. It engages and disengages the brakes hundreds of times per second. You might feel the brake pressure drop on your brake lever, but that’s just the system doing its job to maintain control. ♻️ABS closed-loop system uses: 🧲Hall Effect Encoder: To detect wheel speed. 🧠High-Speed Microcontroller: To calculate the necessary PWM signals. 🛑Brake Actuator Solenoids: To apply and disengage the brakes. 🚧Sometimes, ABS may fail, indicated by an orange ABS icon on your dashboard (just like the Loyal Enfield bikes 😆). And bike manufacturers use IMU and complex algorithm to electively reduce breaking systemin thier sports bikes. ⚠️In some bikes you may also notice panic breaking alert on back indicators when ABS is triggered, to say vehicles behind you " Hey im Panic Breaking, dont crash into me..!" 😀Let me know if you have encountered such situations related to ABS. Stay safe out there, and remember that technology is your friend on the road! #bosh #abs #lifesaver #bikes #cars #ecu #safety

I don’t trust Dodge. With promises of new tech tricks to preserve the elements of ICE models in EVs, I’m weary to think this a better option: “The system could increase the safety of those in proximity of the EVs slinking around… when paired with the active sound system, the vehicle would be easier to detect to bystanders.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gXUrNGHz

A potential barrier for e-mobility uptake is the battery top-up speed. Fast-charging curves with their heat and high current implications are the reason behind the top-up delay. During the trip to Oslo, I, from time to time, checked the fast charging speed. My observation is that the new VW ID4 Pro has a better charging curve than previous ID4 models (based on public information). It is somewhere along the red line displayed below. The charging session data at Circle K started at 2% state-of-charge (SoC) and I stopped at around 82 % for a 34-minute charging session. Thus, in my view, the charging speed experienced is more than optimal. What do you think, do we really need more power?

Interesting. The EU will end up regretting pushing electric cars through tax subsidies etc. While there are pros and cons relative to both electric and internal combustion engines, one clear advantage with the electric cars is that it is vastly easier to make them. Just a battery pack with thousands of fairly normal batteries in a series and a quite simple electric motor or two. Rather than the super complex engines and drivetrains of modern ICE cars. Like 20 vs. 200 moving parts. Sort of fancy upscaled golf carts. Even Xiaomi was able to come up with its own quite fast. The European car industry will disappear in the not too distant future. One of the ironies is that many modern diesel engines from Germany are so advanced that they clear the city air = the intake air has more particles than the exhaust. Exhaust is even vastly cleaner, if the intake city air was very polluted. Driving a diesel like that can literally clean city air. But all of that development is basically just negated by the EU politics. Then again, knowing the power of the EU automotive lobby, maybe they get the EU policies to be against EVs. Their only hope really.

Among those characteristics—human conversations. In the abstract of the patent application publication Ford writes: “An example method includes determining vehicle information for a trip, the vehicle information including any one or more of a current vehicle location, a vehicle speed, a drive mode, and/or traffic information, the user information including any one or more of a route prediction, a speed prediction for the trip, and/or a destination, determining user preferences for advertisements from any one or more of audio signals within the vehicle and/or historical user data, selecting a number of the advertisements to present to the user during the trip, and providing the advertisements to the user during the trip through a human-machine interface (HMI) of the vehicle.”

Great article from Ecobat on EV maintenance. Almost ashamed to admit this, considering I work for a company that sells battery chargers, but I can testify to having a 12V battery failure with an EV/PHEV vehicle. I don’t know what caused it, but one day when I came to use my car there was absolutely no power. Couldn’t even open the doors. This meant manually opening the car (after following a YouTube clip) then an undignified crawl through my car to open the boot, where the battery is located. Once the boot was open I could then access the battery and couple it to my Ring (Ring Automotive Ltd) Smart Charger. An hour or so later I was able to get back on the road. It is the only issue I have had with my PHEV, and being a new car I didn’t think the 12V battery would need looking after. Yet, clearly with all the power supply points it maintains, the 12V battery in an EV is just as important as the main high voltage battery unit. If you own an EV of any description, put the 12V battery on charge (make sure it is a Smart Charger) from time to time so it is ready when you need it. 12-volt batteries, the EV battery of choice! — Garage Talk (garagetalkonline.co.uk) #aftermarket #aftermarketparts #batterytechnology #evcharging #ev #ring #ringautomotive #smartcharging #batterycharger

There’s a lot of talk in the media about consumers losing interest in electric cars (for reasons primarily driven by political actions rather than the cars themselves) so here’s something to get everyone excited about EVs: my review of the Lotus Eletre. Some headlines: up to 373 miles of range, 350 kW ultra-rapid charging rate, 603 hp of power, 710 Nm of torque, 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds, 50-75 mph time of 2 seconds, and you can even use it to tow your caravan weighing up to 2,250 kg: https://lnkd.in/ezh3F7GP
