Great topic by Aaron Moncur Here are some topics I've been thinking of teaching: - Digital Sketching - 3D Master Modeling - DfAM (design for Additive) - Teardown Products to Reverse Engineer - Mockup (Sketch Model) Techniques - Fast prototyping by using Service Bureaus - Rapid Injection Molding with Soft Tools - Prototyping you can do (at your desk) - Prototyping with production vendors - Stratasys FDM - Insight/GCP Speed Tricks - Prusa/Hobby Printers - Speed Tricks - Using freelancers for repeating tasks - Testing early and often to accelerate learning - Photorealistic Rendering as a prototype - Storyboarding User Journey - Form vs Function Prototyping - Partial Prototyping - Interaction Prototyping - Prototyping Strategies - Parallel vs Sequential Prototyping - Scale Models for Faster Prototyping Let me know if you'd like me to set up a Zoom course on any of these topics. And go like Aaron Moncur post, he's got a great idea for a workshop/event. #engineering #design #prototyping
Advanced MFG process development, automated machines, & custom fixtures. Complimented with product development and R&D.
I’m thinking of creating an event for hardware design engineers (R&D, mechanical, biomedical, manufacturing, process, etc). If you had a full day to be taught practical skills directly from the highest performing engineers in the country, what would you want to learn? Leave your comments below.

From Blueprints to Business: My Journey in Engineering and Sales As a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate now working in medical sales, I've gained some unexpected insights: 1. Engineering principles apply everywhere - even in client conversations 2. The ability to explain complex concepts simply is invaluable 3. Understanding both technical and business needs creates unique opportunities My experience designing a plastic injection mold taught me the importance of precision. Now, I apply that same attention to detail in understanding client needs. Interning across various industries - from steel to shipyards - showed me the diversity of engineering applications. It's exciting to now see how these technical solutions translate to real-world impact in the medical field. I'm curious: How have others found their engineering background useful in non-traditional roles? #EngineeringInBusiness #CareerGrowth #FromTechToSales

Design verification is a critical part of any medical device development process. Without it, there can be no green light to proceed to manufacturing stage and beyond that to market. But what can you expect from the process? As devices become ever more complex, often with multiple components, the testing needed to demonstrate a device has been designed to the required functional, regulatory, performance and safety specifications becomes increasingly important. ⚖️ Metrology: Precise functions often demand critical dimensional tolerancing. Metrology measures that this specified tolerance is being met. 🦿 Mechanical testing: a vital part of design verification, mechanical testing may include verification of component or assembly performance in terms of strength, durability and reliability assessed through static, dynamic and life testing. 🌡️ Environmental testing: evaluates a device under the different climatic conditions or mechanical stressors that it is likely to encounter during its life cycle. Simulating these under test conditions can uncover potential weaknesses in design before it goes to manufacture. 💡 ESD testing: Electrostatic Discharge testing is required for devices with electrical components. Its purpose is to check that the functioning of a sensitive device isn't impacted by electrostatic events in the environment it is being used or transported in. Our specialist facilities, equipment and processes mean that we can support design transfer to manufacturing with verification testing at this critical point in a device's route to market. Ensuring your medical device functions as intended is a major consideration before moving into manufacturing phase. Design verification is the key that unlocks the path to manufacturing and market entry. This process becomes even more crucial as devices grow complex, with intricate components that all need to meet strict standards. Design verification meticulously tests the device against functional, regulatory, performance, and safety requirements, giving you the confidence to move forward. But what kind of tests might the verification process entail? ⚖️ Metrology: Precise functions often demand critical dimensional tolerancing limits. Metrology measures that this specified tolerance is being met. 🦿 Mechanical testing: a vital part of design verification, mechanical testing may include verification of component or assembly performance in terms of strength, durability and reliability, assessed through static, dynamic and life testing. 🌡️ Environmental testing: evaluates a device under the different climatic conditions or mechanical stressors that it is likely to encounter during its life cycle.
