EUR 9 million EU funding secured for the CONVEY Project at Port of Hirtshals 🚢🌱 VIREON has a key role to play in the Norwegian Hydrogen-led CONVEY project at Port of Hirtshals - Hirtshals Havn. Today we celebrate 🎉 that CONVEY was awarded a EUR 9 million grant by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership for the development of an integrated green hydrogen value chain at the Port of Hirtshals, Denmark. The project includes the construction of a 5 MW electrolyzer, a large-scale refueling station for heavy-duty transport 🚛, and distribution networks for hydrogen, oxygen, and waste heat to a diverse group of off-takers and partners. Our focus on circularity ensures that every part of the process is optimized for sustainability and efficiency. ♻️ Our CONVEY project is set to transform Hirtshals Port into a model for green ports, showcasing what the future of sustainable energy looks like in action. 🌍 A key feature of this transformation will be the establishment of a green hydrogen refueling station, designed to provide zero-emission fueling solutions specifically for the heavy-duty vehicles operating within the port. 🚛 This is a significant milestone, taking us closer to realizing the first hydrogen corridor for heavy-duty vehicles in Denmark, bridging a vital connection to Norway 🇳🇴. With plans to extend our network, we will also connect Denmark to both Sweden 🇸🇪 and Germany 🇩🇪, enabling cross-border zero emission transportation in Northern Europe. We strongly encourage transportation companies considering hydrogen to reach out to us, so that we together can plan the continued roll-out of our network of hydrogen refueling stations. 🤝 We're deeply thankful for the trust placed in us by the EU's Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Horizon Europe, and we are excited to collaborate with our partners in developing the green port of tomorrow. 🔗 For further details on our exciting project, follow the link below 👇 Clean Hydrogen Partnership European Commission CONVEY Partners: Norwegian Hydrogen | VIREON | Hydrogen Valley Greenport North | Port of Hirtshals - Hirtshals Havn Onnest | biomega® | Hirtshals Transport Center Next Consult ApS | Vendelbo Spedition A/S | VTT #GreenHydrogen #CleanHydrogenPartnership #HorizonEurope #CONVEYProject #GreenPorts #RenewableEnergy

Hydrogen production in a port with a local power supply is an excellent step towards sustainable energy solutions. By leveraging local and renewable energy sources like solar or wind, the production of hydrogen becomes more environmentally friendly and reduces dependency on traditional fossil fuels. This approach not only aligns with the global push for decarbonization but also addresses the specific energy needs of ports, which are critical hubs for trade and transportation. Also, excess heat and oxygen from the hydrogen production can find off-takers among the large variety of customers related to many ports making the overall performance even better.

🚀🌿 The Evolution of Green Hydrogen Transport: Lessons from H2Sines.Rdam & the Emergence of LOHCs 🌿🚀 The H2Sines.Rdam project, aimed at leading the charge in green hydrogen transport from Portugal to the Netherlands, has reached its conclusion. Despite support from industry giants Engie and Shell and potential EU Innovation Fund backing, challenges including regulatory clarity, market readiness, and infrastructure have led to its cancellation in October 2023. The Liquid Hydrogen Challenge ❄️🚢 Transporting hydrogen in its liquid form has proven challenging: - High Liquefaction Costs 💸: The energy and expense required to cool hydrogen to -253°C are significant. - Complex Storage Needs 🧊: Maintaining such low temperatures to prevent hydrogen evaporation demands specialized facilities. - Scarce Shipping Options ⛴️: With limited vessels like Japan's Suiso Frontier available, logistical capacity is constrained. The Rise of LOHCs: A Promising Alternative 🌟🔋 In the face of these obstacles, Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs) offer a promising path forward: - Simplified Storage & Transport 🛢️🚚: LOHCs operate at ambient temperature and pressure, easing the logistical burden. - Enhanced Safety 🛡️: The inherent stability of LOHCs reduces risks associated with storage and transport. - Ready-to-Adapt Infrastructure 🏗️: Existing fuel infrastructure can be readily modified for LOHC use, offering a scalable solution. The Advantages of LOHCs 🌈💡 LOHCs represent a significant leap forward in making green hydrogen a practical and scalable energy solution. They provide a more adaptable, efficient, and safer method for hydrogen storage and transportation, marking a crucial development in the pursuit of sustainable energy. Forward Momentum 🌍💼 The end of the H2Sines.Rdam project signifies a pivotal moment for the green hydrogen industry, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions like LOHCs. As we continue to explore and develop these technologies, we pave the way for a more sustainable and efficient energy future. Let's engage in dialogue about the potential of LOHCs to transform the green hydrogen landscape. Share your thoughts on how we can leverage these advancements for a greener tomorrow. #GreenHydrogen #EnergyInnovation #LOHCs #SustainableEnergy #innovation #technology #hydrogen #Australia

✅ #RenewableEnergy | The European Hydrogen Week knows the “enormous possibilities” of #Navarra in Green Hydrogen Two projects related to #greenhydrogen are already underway in the Autonomous Community of Navarra. The first one is led by ACCIONA Plug and foresees the construction of a 25 MW electrolyzer that will be able to produce a total of 3,880 tons of green hydrogen per year. For this purpose, a total associated investment of 87 million euros is foreseen. Secondly, Nordex Electrolyzers is carrying out an important project of common European interest (IPCEI) consisting of the development of electrolyzers with its own technology (Alkaline). This implementation will count on an investment of 70 million euros accumulated in 8 years and will create 150 direct jobs. “Green hydrogen will not only become a source for our industry to decarbonize, but will also bring value to our community,” said Mikel Irujo Amezaga, Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition. #InvestInNavarra Gobierno de Navarra 📲💻 [All details] 👇

We are proud to announce the launch of our first green hydrogen refuelling station at the JET Mobility Hub on the A7 in Giengen an der Brenz, southern Germany, marking a significant milestone for our subsidiary Mint Hydrogen. This refuelling location was opened in the presence of local dignitaries, including Dieter Henle, Mayor of Giengen an der Brenz, and Oliver Reichert, Retail Manager Germany of JET Tankstellen Deutschland GmbH. This marks the start of our rollout plan for a hydrogen network across Germany and will serve public, local, and distribution transport in German metropolitan areas, as well as long-distance transport along major transport routes. Clifford zur Nieden, CEO of Mint Hydrogen Germany GmbH, said: “Dependable refuelling infrastructure is essential for building a regional ecosystem for renewable hydrogen and is particularly crucial for the decarbonisation of heavy-duty transport.” Mint Hydrogen has deployed refuelling station technology from Maximator Hydrogen GmbH and a payment terminal from Hectronic GmbH. In the field of hydrogen vehicles, the company collaborates with Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility AG, hylane, KEYOU, Stellantis, and ARTHUR ZERO. #H2EnergyEurope #MintHydrogen #SustainableMobility #GreenHydrogen #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Transportation
