Is your Microsoft Partner talking to you about MS Universal Print? Moving your print infrastructure to the cloud? It's a good idea, but there are some things you should consider about MS Universal Print, and also know that there are alternatives that could be a better fit for your organization. 1. The First Consideration is How much will it cost your organization to print using MS Universal Print. It's a little confusing as they count "Print Jobs" and not pages. You are given a certain allotment based on what you have purchased from Microsoft. If someone prints a single print job of 10,000 pages = 1 Print Job. If 100 people print 1 page = 100 Print Jobs. But don't worry you can buy add on packs if you run out. 2. All your company's print jobs go to the cloud and back. So you can not print if you lose internet access. 3. There is no secure print and no follow me printing with MS Universal Print. Also MS UP offers no scanning solution. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS YOU CAN STILL USE MS UNIVERSAL PRINT with other Print Management Software Like Papercut MF or Paragon (Ysoft) as a front end. I am not sure you would want to because you can get all the features of Cloud Printing from these other Vendor's Software with no additional limitation on the number of Print jobs done. If you are confused reach out to me and we can sit down with you and your IT Support People and talk out what you need and how best to supply that need. This is what we do day in and day out. We advise our Customers as to the best technology to meet their goals and aspirations! #KMBSsoftware #CloudPrinting DM me for details!
