🚀 It is with great pleasure I’d like to share the launch of ABP Live Auto App: India’s first Android Auto News App. I find myself fortunate to be the designer that was part of the team that researched and brought this app to life. 🚗 ABP Live Auto App addresses a critical need in the market by introducing audible live news, a feature specifically tailored to meet the demands of the Indian driving landscape. 🛣️ One of the primary challenges we encountered was the adaptation of Google’s Android Auto guidelines to suit the unique requirements of right-hand-steered vehicles in India. The guidelines suggested by Google are meant for the majority of left-hand-steered vehicles. Another challenge we had to face was minimal distraction and ease of use. While on any other given interface, the user isn’t strictly time bound, but on Android Auto, you cannot have any interactions that takes more than 4-5 seconds. Moreover, the written text needs to be understandable, legible yet concise. The buttons dont just need to be prominent but also be placed within the reach of the user for better accessibility. 💡We found ourselves using Hick’s law while designing for Android auto that states: the more choices a users face, the longer it will take them to make a decision. 👉 Our overarching goal throughout this journey was to create an interface specifically tailored for right-hand-steered vehicles. This involved a meticulous focus on accessibility, efficiency, and the creation of a distraction-free environment to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our users. Users can easily book rides, track their journey, and rate drivers. Simplify our customers’ lives? One #app is now bundling our connected car services. ⬇️   Our customers expect functionality at the tap of a screen, be it a vehicle feature, charging information or Škoda Auto news. Now they can find all of it on a single platform in our latest MyŠkoda app.   Some highlights? 🟢 Integration of the Powerpass app, putting charging functions in the common platform and giving BEV and PHEV drivers access to more than 660,000 charging points across Europe.   🟢 We wanted one app for all three powertrains we offer, so it also integrates Pay to Fuel as a popular function for owners of combustion and hybrid vehicles – skipping the queue at the cashier.   🟢 It was also an opportunity to simplify the design and make essential information – like charging or vehicle status – available as widgets on the home screen.   🟢 The new app increases relevancy across more points of the customer journey.
