What’s the biggest killer of a successful marketing campaign? Time. Who has given a campaign less than 3 months to succeed? And then deemed it as unsuccessful when the ROI wasn’t there yet? This is a common practice within marketing. And it damages your potential for growth. Consistency is key 🔑 Yes, track, adjust and update campaigns throughout their life. But don’t get caught focusing on short-term wins with a long-term marketing campaign. #marketingcampaignsuccess #understandingyourstrategy #longtermgainsovershorttermwins

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻—𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱! 🎯 I recently caught an interesting conversation between Tim Soulo and Rand Fishkin on X about aiming for perfect accuracy in marketing attribution. I’m the co-founder in a marketing attribution company, and after 24 years in marketing, here’s my take: 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁. BUT, I wouldn’t do marketing without it. We’re heard customers describe using our platform as “Turning the lights on ...” Some people over do the tracking of their marketing, and the get caught up in tracking it all, that they lose sight of what’s important. Is you marketing generating sales, and can you see the common campaigns generating the most value. Yes, you will get some misattribution, but as long as you have a statistically significant amount of data showing results, and you act on that, you win. https://lnkd.in/e2fRCuiy

No one can convince me there’s a better way to launch a new marketing channel than using Marketing MVPs… – When I launch new channels, I use Marketing MVPs. (A fancy term for launching with the most minimal version of a product or, in this case, a marketing channel.) Without MVPs, you: ✕ waste hours planning and setting up systems ✕ waste money on strategies backed by guesswork (instead of data) ✕ waste time building and re-building your systems and strategies With Marketing MVPs you: ✓ create profitable marketing strategies backed by data ✓ eliminate the harm caused by batching your marketing ✓ create a marketing flywheel and slingshot past your competitors The key to a successful Marketing MVP → using performance data to improve & iterate quickly. To start using MVPs: » launch with the most basic form of your channel » test and iterate quickly to improve your performance » base your strategies off of actual insights from your real performance data Are you currently using MVPs in your marketing?

You're looking at marketing attribution the wrong way. Marketing attribution only shows the tip of the iceberg (of your marketing results). A lot of stuff in marketing happens under the surface, and it will be very hard to track. But let me tell you one marketing truth you cannot ignore because this is so obvious: if there's no tip, there's no freaking iceberg!!! So start measuring those iceberg tips today so that you can know where your icebergs are!

Came across this comment recently - it's a great reminder of why reporting on marketing can be so difficult. A lot of times, we only attribute the last touch point to a conversion but there are soooo many touch points before that final decision (and many that aren't trackable). How do you determine where marketing spend should be, even when it's not so crystal clear what the biggest thing is pulling people in 🤔 #marketingreporting #marketingtips
