Driving simulators are transforming how we develop Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, offering more than just efficiency—they're changing the entire approach to vehicle development. 🔻𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: By enabling much of the calibration work to be done virtually, driving simulators reduce the need for physical prototypes. 🔻𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Success in #ADAS development requires cross-functional collaboration. From vehicle dynamics teams to control systems engineers, simulators help bring everyone together by providing shared data and models. 🔻𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Simulators allow engineers to test complex driving scenarios that are difficult, time-consuming, or costly to replicate in real-world environments. This includes the ability to modify key factors like road conditions or vehicle behavior, enabling precise control over testing variables. As part of our 2024 ZERO PROTOTYPES Summit we hosted an engaging panel discussion on this topic featuring Tille Karoline Rupp from Porsche Engineering, Jens Dornhege from Ford Motor Company, Lorenzo Fasani from Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., Michael Bidlingmaier from Mercedes-AMG GmbH-AMG and moderator Michael Hoffmann from VI-grade. 🎥 Watch the full video at: https://lnkd.in/dyvSGhVS #vigrade #ZPS2024 #ZeroPrototypes #ADAS #drivingsimulator

In the rapidly evolving world of automotive development, virtual validation is key, especially for testing and validating driver assistance systems and connected driving functions. Porsche Engineering is at the forefront, using an advanced end-to-end toolchain to create precise scenes and track models for customers—going far beyond what conventional map data can offer. Before the new Porsche Cayenne's launch last April, its prototype covered four million test kilometers in real conditions. However, virtual testing played an even larger role, with over 1,000 virtual kilometers driven for every real kilometer. Digital twins of vehicles undergo rigorous virtual testing in simulated environments, tackling scenarios too rare or dangerous to test in real life. This meticulous process is crucial for validating advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving functions, ensuring safety and reliability in 'corner cases' that push the boundaries of real-world testing. #Porsche #PorscheCentarZagreb #PorscheCars

Dynisma states its simulators could save US$10m per development program Simon Holloway, commercial director, said, “Testing in the real world is a vital part of the new vehicle development process, but it is time-consuming, costly and has a significant environmental impact for an automotive OEM. #Dynisma’s #DMG simulators allow car makers to increase the amount of virtual testing – without any compromise for development drivers or engineers – delaying the point at which a physical prototype is required, potentially bringing double-digit million-dollar savings as fewer actual test vehicles are needed."
