I'm a bit confused on how DPD Eesti works. I had a parcel with courier delivery that must have been delivered yesterday... but time was not good enough for me, so I've asked to live it in the parcel machine next to my house (like 100m)... and instead of putting that parcel to that machine on Friday exact that time when courier had to come to my place they redirected it back to delivery center and going to deliver back to parcel machine on Monday. Why? Do they have different couriers who know how to ring the doorbell and couriers who can use parcel machine? :) Ok, lets assume that this is too complicated, but why not to ask user before dispatching a parcel with the courier who don't know how to use parcel machine?

Tracking our parcel delivery from Estonia to Italy with DPD Eesti and probably BRT Corriere Espresso. Follow-up on our cross-border delivery experiment from Estonia, Tallinn to Umbria, Italy with Francesco Tribuni. As you can see from the tracking information, our parcel stayed in the locker for 31 minutes. This is exactly what I was describing in my peak season efficiency video here - https://lnkd.in/dsbQexxn - you can increase your locker capacity by increasing the number of courier visits to the locker throughout the day. With this example here, DPD can monetize the same comaprtment several times a day - so the number of compartments is not fixed at all. One finding about parcel registration process. This is probably the one and only negative feedback to DPD Eesti workflow. OOH parcel registration is different that Home Delivery. In my case I did have recipents home address, but in that city there were 10+ OOH locations. How to choose the closest? One way is to ask Francesco :) , but it takes time and I needed to finish the registration. So I had to take a picture with my phone of all potential locations and start manually entering those addresses to the Google Maps to see witch one is the closest. It is not so difficult to create a solution that automatically detects the closest service points based on the destination address. This is the only flaw in the process what comes that shipment. Other than that it seems that our parcel is sorted and most probably also in the line-haul. It’s really great to see Yodel (Yodel Delivery Network Ltd) and Parcelforce Worldwide embracing new techniques like training their drivers to use clairvoyance to see if anyone is home before delivering “the card”. It must be clairvoyance because I can’t think of another reason for them to get out of the delivery vehicle with “the card” already written. The problem is that some drivers haven’t mastered their clairvoyance skills yet because they are incorrectly determining that someone isn’t home with this technique. So, Parcelforce Worldwide and Yodel (Yodel Delivery Network Ltd), could you maybe inform your drivers to revert to the traditional methods of determining if someone is home like, maybe trying the doorbell and lingering for more than 3 seconds after pressing said doorbell or attempting the vague knock at the door? If the doorbell camera catches these “delivery attempts” there doesn’t seem to be any other explanation, surely? 🤔

Moreover, redefining key performance metrics to prioritize "safe and timely deliveries" over just speed can foster a culture of accountability and responsibility.
