Internships are a great way to break into VC. It's how I broke in! I did it through Harlem Capital. Harlem Capital's intern program has 3 cohorts per year of 6-8 interns/fellows. 𝟑𝟗% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐕𝐂 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦. They have landed at incredible firms including: Insight Partners Bain Capital Ventures Lerer Hippeau Redpoint Drive Capital Westbound Equity Partners Slow Ventures M12, Microsoft's Venture Fund VamosVentures SIERRA Ventures JetBlue Ventures + so many more. I highly recommend getting your feet wet in VC via part-time internships. You can learn the VC world in a low-stakes way while also starting to build your network. #venturecapital #vc #recruiting

I took a break from school and moved to Paris. Why? Seeing that I could graduate early, I decided to take a semester off. I joined Elyn as the CEO's Right Hand for 6 months. When I first saw the role on Headline & Sequoia Capital's job boards, I was intrigued. What did a 'CEO's Right Hand' entail? How could it help me become a VC? How would it teach me to work in a fast-paced, high-growth, high-expectations environment? I joined because the interview process showed me these were serious people with a clear vision. They aimed to make a massive impact in eCommerce. I knew I would be challenged and that the expectations were high. Elyn's goal is to be a global leader. Nothing less. Being in a team of 20 tackling a gigantic industry was invigorating. The day-to-day varied on the month and I was able to explore many different topics. The best part? The work I did at the start of my internship is still being used today. I can see the impact I made. With that, my top conceptual takeaways: 1. Lead by example. I witnessed this everyday. A straightforward principle that creates hunger and a desire to succeed among teams. 2. Benchmark. Benchmark. Benchmark. Why start from scratch if it has been done successfully before? Adapt an existing base and make it better. 3. Act fast, react faster. People will start to realize you're dependable. 4. Be a Swiss army knife. No task is too big with the tools we have today. No taks is too mundane. No task is 'useless'. This mindset allowed me to touch on so many projects. 5. Say 'YES' more often. If it's a great opportunity, say yes and solve obstacles as they come. You'll never know where you can go unless you try. I'm glad I took this risk. As my chapter in Paris nears its end and I prepare for my final year at Babson College, I want to thank those who have taught me so much over the last 6 months. El Mehdi Hachad, Hamza Sentissi, Nicolas Reese, Marie Fauchille, Nelson Casata, Isabel Gardocki, Charlotte Werba, and the whole Elyn team - you are all rockstars!

Summer Internship Reflection: Leveling Up in VC Land Happy to share my incredible summer internship experience at Inventus Capital Partners, a renowned US-based VC firm. This opportunity not only enhanced my skills but also fueled my passion for the startup ecosystem. Key Highlights: - Researched 67 anti-portfolio companies from 18 years of deal-flow data, analyzing their transition from startup to unicorn status. - Collaborated with a US counterpart to crack the code on product-market fit, honing my analytical skills. - Witnessed startup founders pitch to legendary investor Kanwal Rekhi, gaining invaluable insights into how VCs evaluate founders and companies. - Facilitated connections between startups and angel investors, fostering meaningful relationships. - Developed fluency in "VC language," understanding funding rounds, term sheets, and more. Shikhin Garg's mentorship and trust in me, enabling a fresh undergrad to experience something of this magnitude is truly remarkable. So what's next? Who knows! But after this summer, I feel like I could take on the whole Silicon Valley! (Just joking ... or am I?)

Sharing what all I did and learned in the first month of my first VC internship: 1) Researching new and upcoming markets. 2) Reading tons of relevant material online related to the markets I’m researching. 3) Identifying startups and opportunities in these markets. 4) Deriving the market size of the sector. 5) Reaching out to people working in the same segment and learning from them. 6) Once again, reading every piece of information available on the sub-niche market. VC job isn’t just about meeting new founders and deciding whether to invest in their ideas. There’s so much more happening behind the scenes in a VC firm, and an immense amount to learn. I’m genuinely excited and grateful to be learning all these things :)

Two months at Invest India, and I can't believe my first internship is already wrapping up! Starting out, I was a bit overwhelmed. My first task? Analyzing export data for ODOP products. I remember staring at the screen thinking, "What have I gotten myself into?" But with some guidance and a lot of coffee, I got the hang of it. But you know what? Those challenges taught me the most. I've gone from barely knowing what HSN codes were to confidently navigating export-import databases. Who knew I'd get excited about market trends? The best part? Seeing how my work fit into the bigger picture. It's pretty cool to think that the reports I helped create might play a small part in shaping India's export strategy. To my patient manager Ishdeep Singh and the awesome Invest India team: thank you for taking a chance on this newbie. Your patience and support made all the difference. I'm walking away with way more than just fancy Excel skills. I've got a newfound confidence, some great friends, and a clearer idea of where I want to go in my career. To anyone on the fence about interning: go for it. It's a wild ride, but so worth it. To my fellow first-time interns out there: we've got this!
