Tsamouris, the Fastener Specialists© In June 2016, a broken bolt sent a Union Pacific train carrying volatile crude oil hurtling off the tracks in the Columbia River Gorge, spilling 42,000 gallons (158,987 liters) and forcing the evacuation of the nearby town of Mosier, Oregon, 🇺🇸 United States. The accident was caused by at least one broken bolt holding the rail in place, according to a report filed by the company with the U.S. Federal Railroad Administration. The broken bolt, which is unique to curved sections of track, failed despite the train traveling at 26 mph (42 km/h) in a 30 mph (48 km/h) zone. Following the accident, Union Pacific checked similar bolts in curved sections of its 32,000 mi (51,499 km) of track across 23 states. The company also replaced bolts in the derailment area with heavier duty ones and increased inspections in the Columbia River Gorge from once every 18 months to four times a year. The derailment, which caused no injuries, raised concerns about the risks associated with transporting crude oil by rail. At Tsamouris, we understand the critical role that quality fasteners play in ensuring the safety and reliability of transportation infrastructure. For today's Feedback Friday we're highlighting Capone Iron Corporation and the Combi C-Series. “As far as space constraints, at the push of a button the wheels turn and you can move in a 90-degree direction from where you were previously working from. You can make the most efficient use of limited space. “Our storage has increased because of the way we can handle material and store it. Its multi-direction capability gives us that opportunity. We can pick, backup, pivot, drop and then do it all over again.” -Stephen Capone, President and CEO of Capone Iron Learn more about the C-Series range of multidirectional forklifts here https://lnkd.in/eP9nPekP #Combilift #LiftinInnovation #CSeries #Forklift #MultidirectionalForklift #MaterialHandling #SteelIndustry #LongLoad #Productivity #Efficiency #Safety

In case you missed - in the early hours of yesterday morning a massive explosion occured at SIMEC owned steel plant Apizaco (Tlaxcala, Mexico), leaving behind at least 12 dead workers. It is not easy to find detailed informations about what exactly happened, but according to this photograph it seems that the caster turret snapped off and dumped the ladle across the cast floor. I have never seen anyhing like that. A terrible accident beyond any imagination. The plant was put into operation in 2018. Prayers for the workers and their families. #mexico #simec #accident #osha
