Time flies when you get to do good things. Almost a year as Interim Marketing Manager at perhaps Sweden's most helpful company, Kjell & Co, went very quickly. There, I got to help build an even better marketing function, establish fantastic collaborations with incredibly competent partners, Per Høj and EssenceMediacom, and make Norway discover where to turn for help with their everyday technology. After that, I helped a market-leading company in the EV-charging industry with a branding and organizational project. Thank you to all talented and committed people for an exciting time. Tough times, impossible demands? In these challenging and uncertain times, the marketing and communications function must not only look to drive sales in the short term. It must also ensure that all company activities and choices simultaneously build the brand in the long term and are selectable, credible, and profitable over time. It may seem challenging if you believe you must now do even more with an already tight budget. Instead, it is about doing the opposite, developing a strategy and removing everything that does not take us down the chosen path. It's about focusing on doing the right things right. Then, it usually goes well. Now, I am free for new assignments. Full-time, Interim, or projects where my experience from Advertising and PR agency, marketing and communications manager roles, and proven knowledge in creating concrete results (even in more challenging times) can make a difference. Many employers and employees often confuse the roles of Marketing Communication Officer and Marketing Officer. Here are the key differences between them, although like most people, I have found myself taking on both roles at times. 1. Marketing Communication Officer (MarCom Officer) - Focus: Communicating the brand’s message effectively. - Role: - Develops and implements communication strategies across various platforms. - Oversees external communication through PR, social media, advertising, and corporate messaging. - Ensures the brand's voice and tone are consistent in all content. - Crafts press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials to keep the audience engaged and informed. 2. Marketing Officer - Focus: Executing and managing the broader marketing strategy. - Role: - Leads marketing campaigns aimed at boosting brand awareness and driving sales. - Conducts market research to better understand customer needs, trends, and competition. - Works on product positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional activities. - Coordinates with sales, product, and other departments to ensure the marketing strategy supports overall business goals.
