According to Big Path Capital’s MO100 rating, HomeExchange is one of the 100 companies with the most impact on earth. Of course, I do not believe this. We are doing our best, but we still have a very long way to go before being able to really have impact on that scale… although it is my dream that we one day will 💪💪💪 That being said, I am very honored by our ranking. Indeed, I find the methodology of the MO100 really interesting: they rank companies based on their “Force for Good” Score. The formula for Force is velocity x mass (they use Growth rate x Revenue). And then they multiply this by the company’s B Corp rating which serves as the “Good” score. Of course, there are many ways one can criticize the methodology…. nonetheless, shining a light on companies with good B corp scores who manage to reach size and grow quickly seems like a good idea to me… what do you think ?
👏 We are proud to announce that our 2 co-founders Emmanuel Arnaud and Charles-Edouard Girard have been recognized for the second time in a row in the 2024 MO 100 Top Impact CEO Ranking! We are honored to be recognized by Big Path Capital and to be surrounded by such brilliant, daring and inspiring people, catalyzing positive social and environmental change through the dynamic companies they run. As a company, we are convinced of our responsibility to contribute to social and environmental well-being and this nomination shows recognition to our efforts and commitment to work toward a more human, authentic and responsible way of travelling and we can’t wait to see where this new year will take us to keep improving our positive impact to build a better future together 💪 👏 Lola Florin Wilbrenninck Elisa Papin thomas joulain for the amazing work on these topics and thanks Kristin Remenschneider for sharing with us this great news! #TopImpactCEO #ResponsibleTravel #PositiveImpact

Thanks to B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand for an inspiring week at the B Corp Assembly last week. With over 300 attendees and 8,000 B Corps globally, there was plenty to discuss. Discussions covered the rise of woke capitalism, balancing profit and purpose, changing B Corp standards and reporting vs performance, what role we can play in collective action and navigating partnerships, and story-telling and its role in shaping culture, among others. Most importantly, it was a collective of good people who had real conversations about forging change. What's working and what's not and how we can do better. So, here are a few takeaways: https://lnkd.in/gyzdYri5 What inspired me? · Hearing how Michele Wilson, Founder of B Lab AWWA Period care, is fighting period poverty in NZ by giving 2% of their revenue towards resolving this issue and successfully campaigning for free period products in schools. What challenged me? · A preview of Damon Gameau's new film on fighting the climate crises, seen through the eyes of child activists (not a dry eye in the room), left me determined to create more action to work towards a better future. What am I taking away? · Great conversations with the likes of Laura Reed on ESG Governance from Edge Impact, reassurance that the B Corp new draft standards will be creating more value and pushing B Corp forward by Clay Brown, and recognition that B Corp needs to be inclusive for First Nations businesses globally because we have so much to learn from the likes of leaders such as Eileen Bowden, who inspired us with her closing words. Shoutout to Max Van Biene GAICD, Andrea Spencer-Cooke, Kate Sherburn, Alexander Dirksen, Kira D., Lauren Cain, Shasta O'Loughlin, and Jen Djula for the great chats. #bcorpmonth #intrepidtravel

WE DESPERATELY NEED TO LISTEN TO YOUNG VOICES 📢 👂 On Saturday afternoon I had the great pleasure of delivering a presentation on sustainability to a group of high school students at the Environmental Management Authority on behalf of the ANSA McAL Group as title sponsor of HARCON Harrington Consulting Limited's ESG Pilot Program. We discussed the importance of measuring and managing impact, and the collective power of collaboration. Our takeaway tagline for the session was "No one can do everything, but everyone can do something". I'm not 100% sure what I expected walking in, but it wasn't on my Bingo card to be immersed in such deep and heartfelt experiences of ecoanxiety. Ecoanxiety is defined by the APA as "the chronic fear of environmental cataclysm that comes from observing the seemingly irrevocable impact of climate change and the associated concern for one's future and that of next generations". WHOA! Our young people are really feeling it. They have been born into a climate crisis, have experienced the worst global pandemic in modern history, all while catastrophic wars rage without ceasing. And their young, impressionable minds are seeing it all in real time on their phones every single day. IT IS ALOT. So I asked the question: "What would ease your anxiety?" and heard this: 1) "Feeling heard" 2) "Understanding my role in solving the problem" 3) "Seeing our elders and leaders do something about it" They have spoken. Now we must respond. I challenge everyone who reads this post to proactively seek out opportunities to listen to, mentor and engage in collaborative action with young people. Whatever your field, whatever your passion, it matters and our youth can benefit from it. If you are in Trinidad and Tobago and do not know where to start, here are just a few EXCEPTIONAL people you can reach out to who can guide your involvement: Lawrence J. Arjoon, CEO, The Heroes Foundation Mtima Solwazi, M.Sc., CEO, The ROOTS Foundation Dawsher Charles, Executive Director, Survival Scholars Thank you to Ermath Harrington for the privilege of participating on this program and to Frances Bain-Cumberbatch for spearheading such impactful corporate citizenry. #sustainability #youthplatforms #listen #mentor #do

As Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia once said “I don't want to rule my own country, I just want to embed great social value and sustainability principles into the DNA of businesses across the world.” Or something like that, I forget the exact words but, you get the gist. And like princess Mia and Martin Luther King before her, I too have a dream, that businesses across the land understand and embed social value and sustainability into the very fabric of their DNA. Social value involves understanding the importance of changes to people's well-being and using these insights to make better decisions, ultimately increasing the positive impact and reducing negative effects. It's about considering a broader definition of value beyond financial metrics, ensuring decisions benefit both people and the planet. Many people focus solely on profit margins, they’re businesses right? I get it. But they’re overlooking the significant long-term benefits that social value can bring to communities and in turn the businesses that serve them. It's disheartening when organisations engage in superficial "tick-box" activities rather than striving for genuine, impactful change. Equally disheartening is the issue of greenwashing in sustainability. Many organisations opt for superficial eco-friendly claims instead of committing to genuine sustainable practices. Greenwashing undermines the trust and efforts of those genuinely working towards environmental sustainability. Both Social Value and Sustainability should be taken seriously, with actions grounded in real impact rather than just perception. As part of my role, I am dedicated to educating and informing others about the significance of social value. I look forward to deepening my understanding and skills during the upcoming SROI course with Social Value UK in July and embarking on their practitioner pathway. My goal is to make a tangible difference, helping to steer efforts towards impactful, sustainable change that truly benefits our communities. It can be incredibly frustrating to engage with individuals who don’t fully understand the true purpose of social value and sustainability and their potential impact or choose to overlook them in favour of the profit margin. But by starting conversations around these topics we can work together to foster genuine improvements that benefit both our communities and the environment. Feel free to join the conversation or reach out if you want to learn more about how we can create positive change together. I promise my face doesn’t always look like this on calls… #SocialValue #Impact #SROI #Community #Sustainability #Education #SVUK

Wow! What a week! I had the privilege of delivering the keynote at the WSA 2024 Global Congress in beautiful Patagonia, Chile. The WSA celebrates innovators delivering positive social impact by harnessing the power of technology to drive towards the United Nations SDGs. It was inspirational to hear how people around the world are tackling environmental problems, building social cohesion, and reimagining impact investing to literally make the world a better place. Congratulations to the 40 winners who were celebrate at the event. I encourage you all to learn more about their amazing work, which covers everything from improving sanitation in rural villages in the Global South to using AI to learn and remember ancient languages that are in danger of becoming extinct. Thanks again to Prof. Dr. Peter A. Bruck, Nora Wolloch, and the entire WSA board for inviting me to participate in this amazing event. My keynote had a strong message: "governments alone will not solve the increasingly challenging problems that humanity faces - the charge will be led by innovators and social entrepreneurs who find a way to solve issues while creating sustainable businesses." Like all founders, these innovators need support, advice, and funding to realize their potential. So, I was grateful for the opportunity to share some details of the work that Adam Maddock and I are doing in this field… We will soon launch VentureForge, an innovative nonprofit with a mission to help founders forge their ideas into impact, leveraging a proprietary digital platform and global community. Stay tuned for more on this soon! 😎 #WSA #UnitedNations #SDGs #innovation #impact #socialenterprise #impactinvesting
