ICCA Chronicles: #FIEXPO2024, Part. 2 - Panama’s Legacy After 3 FIEXPO Editions
🌎It’s my job to analyse the regional business events’ market dynamics, and FIEXPO Latin America is a key variable to measure the industry’s pulse
📅Panama🇵🇦 hosted the trade show for the past 3 years (2022-2024), after Cartagena (Colombia) in 2021, Santiago (Chile) from 2017-2019, Lima (Peru) and Montevideo (Uruguay)
🎯As for any event/congress/trade fair, the host destination plays a pivotal role in the meeting experience. Therefore, I’ve been pondering on the true impact Panamá had towards the growth and consolidation of this important regional trade fair, and its overall regional impact
Staying away from common places, I would like to focus on 3 factors:
1️⃣Integration
☑️It's no secret Panamá has an exceptional air connectivity and infrastructure, thus, enhancing/facilitating the access for more regional and global stakeholders. We saw the participation of new global associations for the first time
☑️The entire local meetings and business events ecosystem came together for the same purpose
☑️The public-private articulation was solid
☑️And the active participation of new actors from economic development, investment attraction, innovation, scientific development, entrepreneurial, academic, and business ecosystem was crucial towards a wider destination awareness and impact
2️⃣Incubation
☑️We saw local ideas taking root and transforming into new meaningful activities and content, always supported by FIEXPO, and powered by global industry associations, like ICCA, and many more
☑️From year-one to year-three we witnessed the evolution and growth of a group of young industry leaders (local and regional)
☑️Universities (and student communities) went from an initial-minor involvement to a full-blown engagement, becoming an active player in some recent activities
3️⃣Acceleration
☑️Having more available sqm in the convention center provided the trade show with an exponential growth platform
☑️The ICCA community in Panamá grew 600% in just three years since the first FIEXPO
☑️Regional competitiveness was accelerated as a consequence of new initiatives launched by Panama (Panama Association Hub), and other destinations like Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Brasil and Argentina, within the trade show
☑️Latin America and the Caribbean's international positioning got stronger over the past years. Just look at the evolution of the region's global awareness

🚀Overall, Panamá provided a launchpad to accelerate FIEXPO’s growth, boosting Latin America's brand globally
