Every once in a while, someone articulates a simple truth so perfectly that it makes you question every organizational barrier you've accepted as "just the way things are." Marianne McPeak-Johnson provided exactly such aha moments during her appearance on the Product Rebels Podcast: "When product isn't worried about engineering executing and engineering isn't worried about product giving them the right 'What' - that's when you're one team. From ideation to launch, it changes everything about getting waste out of your process." Organizational structure and barriers should not keep functional teams from working as one team. But that requires leadership. Leadership that says we are going to operate as one team. Marianne: "If an engineer has access to customer feedback, can actually see how a customer is using their product or service, they will design differently." Makes sense, right? Let's look at it this way: Imagine a Michelin-star chef who only gets customer feedback through their waiting staff: - Waiter might be too busy to capture detailed reactions - Important context gets lost in translation - Subtle feedback never makes it back to the kitchen - Non-verbal cues are missed entirely - The reasons 𝐰𝐡𝐲 a dish worked (or didn't) disappear But when that chef sees customers experience their food firsthand - watching their reactions, hearing their conversations, seeing what gets left on the plate - they can directly apply this feedback to their next menu revision. So, here's my challenge to you: Are you going to let your engineers talk to customers this week? Wishing you a week full of customer insights! 💡 #Product #ProductDevelopment #Engineering #CustomerFeedback #Leadership

What an excellent insight by Marianne McPeak-Johnson totally agree which is why we are focused on building a solution that puts structure around defining the WHAT and the WHY. From Vision -> PRD-> Epics -> User Stories a structured output capturing most requirements and at the same time encouraging product discovery. No more missed requirements, reduced technical debt, save time. https://prodhub.ai
