The attack of this scale on CDK is an attack on the auto industry in US and Canada. However, at the same it's heartening to see how the competitors in the DMS space have responded to support dealer fraternities in this time of deep crisis. Other DMS product leaders like R&R, DealerTrack and Tekion(the emerging cloud native product backed by many OEMs) are offering support to the dealers without any fees or contracts. Reynolds & Reynolds is increasing production at its printing facility to supply dealers with the paper materials they need to conduct business, such as repair orders, forms for purchases and retail installment contracts.   Walsh CEO of R&R wrote. "We are providing our Desking solution to these customers at no charge so they can work deals effectively. No contract, no fees, just access to the software."   As per Jay Vijayan CEO of Tekion, "Tekion is providing free access to their Tax, Title, and License solution, Tekion Digital Processing (TDP), to all affected dealers. This standalone tool will allow them team to accurately calculate tax, title and license for vehicle, heavy truck, trailer, RV, watercraft and powersports sales transactions in all U.S. States and the District of Columbia"   DealerTrack by Cox has also jumped in the support wagon in this time of crisis "While actively supporting our customers to continue to run their business," Cox said, "we established a secure microsite that our customers are actively using now to access support and guidance, work-arounds and actions they can take while CDK systems are not available. Having personally worked at this junction for many years I can understand the impact and very happy to see the industry coming together to face it. It can happen to any product and any industry mainly in the era we are living in, hence, its utmost important to learn a strong lesson and have dialogues to avoid this in future. This will also spark a debate on the future course for the dealers if it's the right strategy to put all eggs in one basket rather having different integrated solutions to reduce single point of failure problems. #DMS #autoindustry #cybersecurity #safety
