Gukesh Dommaraju, the youngest World Chess Champion, has not only made history with his extraordinary victory but also inspired a monumental gesture of support from the Finance Ministry. Acknowledging his brilliance, the Ministry waived the ₹4.67 crore tax on his ₹11.34 crore prize money—a tribute to honor his exceptional achievement and encourage young talent across the nation. This sets a powerful precedent for recognizing and supporting our national heroes. Here's to celebrating Gukesh's incredible journey and India's bright future! #gukesh #chesschampion #championship #support #proud #indian
Waking up everyday, spending couple of hours in travelling, slogging for 10 hours and then coming back home to fulfill social duties. Struggling lifelong to put up the smile on their loved ones”s face. Arent all these ACHIEVEMENTS as well? This gentleman focussed on just a specific thing throughout these 18 years not worrying about livelihood. And a common Woman/ Man needs to be a Jack of All trades. Doesnt she/ he deserve such icings at times ?
What is wrong with the government and the people of this country. Definitely we are proud of him. However, salaried class for years has been asking for reduction in taxes - nothing has happened there. For sports people an amount as huge as approximately five crores has been waived off in a matter of days. Lets waive tax for us as well since we are also doing hard work all through out the year and contributing to the GDP of the country but who cares. Even we are only not aware about our rights.
No official confirmation has been made regarding the tax exemption for Gukesh D as of now, rumors are there in the market but let's wait for verified updates before drawing conclusions. Also it isn't easy for Finance Ministry to waive tax for a transaction, unless by way of amendment in the Act or some specific notification. Till now no exemption under 10(17A) have been rolled out. It is only a rumor as of now.
"It’s confusing to see some people showing double standards. First, they criticized the government for taxing the champion’s prize money. Now that the tax has been waived, they are questioning the decision. The person was rewarded for their talent, which should be appreciated, not criticized. Note: I’m also a salaried employee and feel frustrated about paying taxes on my hard-earned money, but that doesn’t mean we should overlook someone else’s well-deserved success."
Haha , One side Murthy sir is asking for more work and on the other side Nirmala Mam is asking for more tax, Hope I am alive to do the both things 😀
What's so ridiculous is that govt taxing an amount is a crime, waiving it off too is a crime. I don't really understand why it's so wrong! It's their way of rewarding. If you can't give, then don't take. That's what I truly believe. He's special and none of us can deny that, if this is the govt's way of showing it, so be it. Why compare us, corporate employees, with him? He didn't get paid to practice! We get paid every month for our services. We pay taxes, I get it... it's incredibly annoying...but can you really take out your frustrations on the govt. by going against everything they do?
Its not just he all the champions who have earned laurels for the nation should have this benefit and actually this should not happen this huge amount can upgrade a village and improve the village life of poor in terms of transportation,Solar energy etc leviving just for one is not a happy moment even for the history and people who won would think why we have paid the taxes thats why government is for all sab ka sath sab ka vikas
What Gukesh did was definitely inspirational bit waving the tax is wrong on so many grounds . What if tomorrow Rishabh pant also requests the same stating the comeback he made after his accident ? Will the govt ever waive tax liability for a salaried individual who has medical emergency in his family ? Another example of why rich keep on getting rich and the middle class is never able to uplift their financial standard

21hI think its social media power, which enforce them to waived off :)
