My 5 year 'Googleversary' today! I've loved every minute.  5 things I am *deeply* grateful for: 1. The rare opportunity to be in the engine room of this rocket ship as it grew from $9B+ run rate business to $45B+ in only 5 years.  There is no playbook for growth at this scale; we get to write it as we go. 2. The joy of watching thousands of customers thrive on Google Cloud. It is impressive and humbling to see so many IT leaders and their teams transform their organizations including through the pandemic.     3. The privilege of working closely with some of the most innovative and humble leaders and colleagues who are true pioneers in cloud infrastructure (Googlers and our partners). 4. The honor of working with some of the most respected industry analysts and earning their endorsement.  The work they do has never been more important with today's pace of change. 5. The good fortune of working at a storied workplace that competes vigorously but never compromises on its values - Respect the user, Respect the opportunity, and Respect each other.

Exciting news 🎉 I've been working with Lynn Langit and Weihao Ge on running DeepCell on Google Cloud Platform. We're working with the Batch team to run our DeepCell jobs using a private preview feature: Node Pools. Node pools allow Batch to reuse infrastructure across jobs, which can improve end-to-end performance for jobs with a lot of setup time (like our 3 GB container). Using a node pool reduced our benchmark time by 80%. 😎 Link in comments!

#gcp Q2'24: +29% growth YoY, $10,35B revenue You know, most surely it means Google will shut it down any moment, right? (irony, shots fired, etc.😁) Obligated quarterly publication about why I bet for #googlecloud over other cloud providers while for years other cloud professionals disregarded it over #aws or even spread #FUD (or so called #fakenews in 2020+)... I'll try to keep the same growth and deliver +29% more training and consultancy days, although I'm not sure that's achievable!

The Toughest Goodbye – Reflecting on Almost Six Incredible Years at Google Cloud The decision to leave Google is one of the toughest I’ve ever made. Working at Google has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and tremendous honor. Over nearly six years, I’ve learned an incredible amount, had so much fun, and witnessed remarkable growth in the business. Helping grow Google Cloud from $7.3B to over $41B in annualized revenue and contributing to the creation of the world’s fourth-largest enterprise software company, has been a career-defining privilege. As I close this chapter, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to the people who made these years truly unforgettable. From the very start, I’ve had the honor of working alongside some of the brightest, most passionate, very humble and innovative individuals. Together, we’ve tackled challenges, celebrated victories, and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved as a team, and I’ll carry forward the invaluable lessons and lasting relationships from this journey. A huge thank you to Sundar Pichai and Thomas Kurian, my team, colleagues, mentors, and friends at Google for your constant support, encouragement, and inspiration. You’ve shaped not only my professional journey but my personal growth as well, in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Lots of gratitude to customers and partners who trusted me and gave Google Cloud a chance to solve their technology requirements.  Among the many positives, one stands out above all: the opportunity to learn from my mentor and friend, Thomas Kurian. Over the span of more than 25 years—between Oracle and Google—I’ve had the privilege of reporting to Thomas. I’ve seen many leaders in action, but none quite like him. His consistent ability to understand markets, delve into any subject matter, distill complex information into actionable decisions, and relentlessly pursue positive outcomes with a customer-centric focus has been a masterclass in leadership. The toughest part of leaving Google Cloud is stepping away from the opportunity to work with and learn from Thomas on a daily basis. While this goodbye is bittersweet, I’m excited about the new adventures and opportunities ahead. I look forward to staying in touch, collaborating in the future, and continuing to learn from this incredible community. Go Google Cloud!! Here’s to the next chapter! 🙏 🚀

First week in Google Cloud and first time at NEXT! Amidst a lot of incredible things ranging from the Gen AI Agents announcements to meeting my team for the first time to meeting with some of our most inportant customers and partners. Everything made the 4 days here spectacular. Here are my 2 top takeaways: 1. Businesses care deeply about what they do and the impact it has on their goals. Google Cloud is uniquely positioned to assist businesses en route to success especially with our grounding LLM models 2. Meeting people in-person is fundamental to building culture. Do more of it!
