Today is World Mental Health Day. World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. This year’s theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health is workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities. Having personally faced significant mental health challenges in my life, I understand how overwhelming it can be. But today, I can proudly say, that with the right support of my family, friends, colleagues and medical professionals, I’ve come out the other side and am living my best life. I am happier than ever (most days). 🌟 Mental health is often misunderstood. Too many people still think it’s just about poor mental health. But the truth is, we all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. It’s not something that’s binary – it exists on a sliding scale. Some days are better than others, and that’s normal. 💡 We need to change the conversation to recognise that mental health is about the whole spectrum – whether we’re thriving, surviving, or struggling. For those still facing challenges, support is always available. You don’t have to face it alone: Mind Samaritans Rethink Mental Illness Let’s continue to break the stigma and encourage open conversations about mental well-being. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCare #Wellbeing #YouAreNotAlone #Workplace

The theme for World Mental Health Day 2024, “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,” emphasizes the critical role that workplaces play in supporting mental health. We spend a significant portion of our lives at work, so it is essential that employers create environments where mental well-being is prioritized. This theme encourages organizations to adopt policies that support mental health and foster a culture where mental health is openly discussed and valued. Make a difference today by: 🔶 Hosting an open discussion about mental health, normalizing the conversation within your team. 🔷 Leading by example, sharing your own experiences with how you manage your stress. 🔶 Reminding your team of existing mental health resources and how to access them. 🔷 ⭐⭐ Taking this opportunity to practice self-awareness, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Check in with yourself and your team members individually: How are you feeling? What do you need to feel less stressed today?⭐⭐ Mental health is an integral part of our overall well-being, affecting how we think, feel, and act. It influences how we handle stress, relate to others, make decisions, and more. Yet, mental health issues are often overlooked, stigmatized, or misunderstood. World Mental Health Day aims to change that by fostering open conversations to reduce stigma and encouraging people to care for their mental health and seek help when they need it.
