I would like to share with you about the non-profit organization that I started called Sunrise NPPA Derm Inc. It was founded with the principles that physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), and physicians alike, should work together to maintain the ethics, values, and standard of care that we were taught when we went through our training for our respective professions. Sunrise NPPA Derm believes that patients deserve the quality care that we all want to provide. Nobody--not us, not our friends, not our parents, not our children, not our neighbors, nobody-- would want to be treated like just a number when it comes to our health. Today, the healthcare landscape is changing quickly. Private equity is buying out healthcare practices, and large corporations are taking over our local specialists and primary care providers. They are making healthcare about volume, reimbursement, and the bottom line.  Sunrise NPPA Derm is here to help us all stand together, learn together, grow together, and inspire each other to maintain our values, and keep the CARE in healthcare. Today I want to explain why I have so many Mayo Clinic appointments coming up. Most of us thought (or think) that getting on a transplant list is a simple process, probably due to too many hospital shows like YOU Grey's Anatomy and think the majority of your time is waiting for a donor, etc. BUT that is so far from the truth. Matter of fact, the prep to even GET on that list is a long months process meeting with numerous comittees and doing lab work. From this date til June 4th, I have to meet with the specialists from the following teams: Anesthesia Blood diseases Breathing and lung conditions Diabetes Heart and blood vessel conditions Imaging Kidney conditions Liver conditions Mental health conditions Transplant surgery Urologic conditions Clinical transplant coordinator Transplant social worker Transplant financial coordinator Transplant registered dietitian Transplant pharmacist ----------------------------------- As u can see, it is grueling, tiresome and consistent stress. Plus I have to jump thru all these hoops with a positivity wth minimal signs of deflection, combativeness, defiant behavior, inconsistency of following doctor orders and lack of discipline. These are MAJOR factors in having your case accepted or denied. But whatever they want, they will get because I can bitch and rant AFTER the fact but as of now, I have to be a model patient with angelic qualities 😇😎 So that my family and friends is how the majority of these transplant processes work.
