I received several requests from faculty members and PhD scholars for sharing the slides of the public lecture I delivered at Plaksha University on Friday. This lecture was on the significance of the research carried out by 2024 Nobel Prize Winners in Economics. In response to these requests, I am sharing the slide deck here as a public good. Please share/repost within your own networks. Thanks! Two caveats: 1. These slides are not a comprehensive treatment of all of the excellent work that Acemoglu, Johnson and Robinson have done over the years. 2. They also don't offer references to the extensive literature that their original paper spawned in institutional and development economics - both in favour of and against their original finding that political institutions matter for economic prosperity. #NobelPrize #Development #Economics
