My Running Thought of The Day : I am no expert on parenting, love, or social behavior, but I recently heard someone say that we might be the only generation to care for both our parents and our children. This made me reflect on how relevant it is today. If you look at the generations after us, many seem to prioritize "space." This space, they claim, is meant to improve their lives or make them more comfortable. For example, young couples often avoid having children because they feel it would encroach on their space and add responsibility. Similarly, younger students demand space—often to spend time on gadgets—without realizing that we live in an interconnected ecosystem. Around 90% of who we are is shaped by the environment and people around us, while only the remaining 10% is within our control. This truth was best illustrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of us were confined to our homes with loved ones, and those who lived alone often suffered from mental trauma. Large corporations had to hire counselors to support employees living in isolation. If you look at the data, countries with higher numbers of individuals living alone faced these challenges the most. What does this tell us? It highlights the importance of being part of a thriving ecosystem. Instead of focusing solely on "me," we need to embrace "us." This shift in mindset can positively impact both our personal and professional lives. Living in an environment where you don’t live solely for yourself comes with challenges, such as increased responsibilities and reduced gadget time. I am in my mid-20s, and I don’t know what I am doing with my life. This is the statement that most of us have heard or told ourselves at some point. You know you want something better? Something that can change the way you live, think, and act in life. But you don’t know what that something is that you want to do? If you’re in the same situation as me? Let's Talk First, Let's Understand Few things: - Age is just a number. The founders of Zepto started their venture at 19, and Ritesh Agarwal launched OYO at the same age. Conversely, people like Falguni Nayyar didn't begin their entrepreneurial journey until they were 49, or Ronie Screwvala started UpGrad at 59. Some people find their calling early, while others take longer. And that's perfectly okay. Everyone's journey is unique. So don't be hard on yourself while you're still figuring things out or on the path to somewhere. Now, what you should do to start shaping your path is this: 1] Start Anything Starting up is the first thing you need to do. 2] Journal your thoughts daily. It helps you understand yourself better. 3] List your core values. Find things that align with them and give you purpose. 4] Seek inspiration from others. Connect with mentors, read books, or join communities. 5] Take small Steps. Experiment with different interests. 6] Prioritize Self-care. Exercise, meditate, spend time in nature. 7] Embrace failure. It's part of the journey. Use it to grow. Mate, if you think figuring it out is easy for anyone, then you're wrong. Everyone is figuring things out in some way or another. That first VC event I attended was a sea of hoodies and sneakers, peppered with big names I'd only read about. I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb—wrong clothes, wrong (read: new) background. For a moment, I thought about leaving. But then something clicked. I realized being the outsider wasn't a weakness—it was my edge. While everyone else was caught up in the Silicon Valley echo chamber, I was bringing a fresh perspective. I saw opportunities they were blind to, simply because I wasn’t bound by their conventions. I could see the untapped potential in India—the sea of talent, skill, and resources waiting to be unlocked. That’s exactly what we’re building on today at Kaamwork. Being an outsider isn’t always comfortable, but it gives you a unique vantage point. You’re free to challenge the "that’s how it’s always been done" mentality. You bring diverse experiences that can lead to breakthrough innovations. Some of the most disruptive ideas in tech came from outsiders. Think about how Airbnb revolutionized travel or how WhatsApp transformed communication. These weren’t industry insiders—they were people who looked at old problems with fresh eyes. So, the next time you feel like you don’t belong, remember: your outsider status is a powerful advantage. Embrace it, use it, and you might just unlock the next big idea.

I’ve often wondered why people hesitate to seek help when struggling in key areas of life. Despite excelling academically and possessing strong networking and leadership skills, these strengths didn’t provide the edge I needed while leading IOH (#investonhealth). The startup’s failure was a humbling experience, forcing me to reflect deeply on my thoughts, actions, and impulsivity. Failure of IOH (scaling up) was devastating, but with right guidance & support it became an invaluable stepping stones toward a stronger, more adaptable self. And I feel mentoring plays a crucial role in this journey. Here’s how it helped me: Self-Awareness: Mentoring fosters clarity about strengths, weaknesses, and alignment with core values. It helped me realize I’m driven more by creating meaningful impact in people's lives than by profit or ROI-focused ventures. Improved Decision-Making : Recognising my impulsive tendency was another step & helps to make well-considered choices that reflect your priorities. Alignment with Core Values : Fine tuning my thoughts and actions to align with my core values helped me a lot to stay happy n purpose driven. Shifting from reactive to proactive thinking was one of the most challenging exercises. Over time, I began to see how counterproductive my reactive approach had been. Challenges are often best navigated through the right conversations, a bit of patience, or seeking help and building partnerships when needed. These exercises helped me refine both my domain expertise and soft skills, enabling me to contribute meaningfully to the impact I aimed to create. At IOH, when we help people transform their lifestyle habits, a key strategy we use is to make them accountable and provide support whenever needed Similarly, as my daughter navigates the challenges of her teenage years, I believe the most important qualities for her to develop are resilience and adaptability. In December 2014, we bootstrapped IOH with big dreams. While it didn’t scale as envisioned, the deep learning in nutrition, policies, and the ecosystem proved invaluable, equipping me to navigate the challenges of leading my current NGO's impact in India. This weekend I got to welcome my new niece into the world. Some things are too sacred for LinkedIn and amidst big life events where everything else feels pretty insignificant, I've been thinking a lot about meaningful work. I've been asking myself these questions: 👉 What are the companies I would dream of working with (that would feel impactful even in times like this)? 👉 What type of projects/work would light me up and are in my zones of genius? 👉 Who are the people that I want to work alongside to share the moments outside of work as much as the moments of the work itself? For me, it's companies/projects/people that deeply align with my own values and what making an impact means to me. For me, it's companies/projects/people that are democratizing access to wellbeing: with personal finance, women's health, regenerative agriculture, For me, it's supporting #founders and #smallbusinessowners bring their dreams into the world. Again, the goal is not to work *through* these life events, but to build a career such that when they happen, your work doesn't feel completely meaningless alongside them. When they happen, take time for yourself, be with loved ones, celebrate or mourn, and when you're ready - come back to work that makes you feel good. -- 👋Hi! DFD#16: Reflections on the first quarter of 2024: 🤕Sometimes, in the midst of chaos, it's easy to feel stuck or overwhelmed. But when we take a moment to look back, we realize how far we've come and how much we have to be proud of. Looking back at the first quarter of my year, I.. 1️⃣ ..made the leap from corporate business development in tech to full-time entrepreneurship. A career I've been in for the past 6 years.    2️⃣ ..expanded my social media presence from just TikTok to also LinkedIn, publicly announcing my business Select Your Product 1 month ago and posting daily since, opening up new avenues for networking. 3️⃣ ..received an overwhelming response to User Generated Content (UGC) short video requests, leading to freelance opportunities and the creation of compelling content. 4️⃣ ..leveraged expertise in TikTok campaigns to help clients with short ads, further establishing credibility in the digital marketing space. 5️⃣ ..joined V-TAG Austria, advocating for the Tibetan cause and connecting with like-minded Tibetans here in Vienna and around the world who are speaking up. 6️⃣ ..spent a month in South India, immersing myself in different cultures and spending quality time with my father. (And totally fell in love with Mumbai) 7️⃣ ..began a new chapter by moving into a new apartment with my new home office. This marked a clear cut for new beginnings and new opportunities. 🌪️Looking back on these whirlwind three months, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunities, challenges, and growth they've brought. In the first three months of 2024, the biggest change for me has been the transition from being employed to fully committing to my own ventures. It's been a journey of exploration and growth on both a personal and professional level. Organizing my life when it's completely up to me has been the most rewarding and challenging aspect.
