We’re excited to share that our Chief Sustainability Officer, Onon Bayasgalan, will be speaking at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 15. She’ll join an Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) event, presenting URECA’s Coal-to-Solar (C2S) initiative and discussing energy transition solutions for vulnerable communities. In Ulaanbaatar, C2S helps low-income families shift from coal-based heating to clean, renewable energy, tackling air pollution and boosting energy resilience in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable capitals. Onon will share how this technology-driven solution can support sustainable development and a just energy transition in Mongolia and beyond. The URECA team is in Baku this week to connect with leaders and stakeholders at COP29 Azerbaijan, exploring the vital role of climate finance, innovation, and technology in building a sustainable future for vulnerable regions. #COP29 #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition #CoaltoSolar #C2S #URECA #Sustainability #CeanEnergy #Mongolia #Asia #ClimateFinance

If COP 31 comes to Australia, Adelaide will emerge as the logical venue, given South Australia's status as a renewable energy "Superpower" globally. The region is on track to achieve periods of up to 100% renewable energy by next year, surpassing even "Green Denmark" by five years. Having attended COP 15 in Denmark with a VIP pass-through to the final day, South Australia considers hosting this global event an honour. If Australia secures COP 31, South Australia's initiative for the world's largest Green Hydrogen production facilities, led by the ALP Malinauskas State Government, will be nearing completion in Whyalla. This project will bolster the region's position as a leader in renewable energy. The Eyre Peninsula region has an abundant 2,400km stunning coastline and landmass comparable to the size of the United Kingdom. With high solar penetration levels and consistent wind resources, South Australia's new multi-billion dollar under-construction "Green Spine" 330kV transmission interconnector project will link Victoria and NSW, enhancing the National Grid's capacity. This development will facilitate cost-effective off-peak renewable energy utilization, particularly for Green Hydrogen production, Green Ammonia, and Green Methanol. These alternatives have the potential to save Australia approximately $11bn annually in imported diesel fuel costs, benefitting key sectors like Mining, Transportation, and Farming. Additionally, the green hydrogen production facilities in Whyalla could offer a sustainable solution for the Fertiliser industry, reducing the need for imported products worth over $8bn. Whyalla is destined to become the epicentre of sustainability in the world. It's the gateway city for the Eyre Peninsula, with over 2,400km of stunning coastline and a landmass greater than the whole of the United Kingdom. Whyalla is where the Sea meets the Outback of South Australia, a place where time began. #SouthAustralia #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #Whyalla #Superpower #GreenHydrogen #GreenSteel #Sustainability #Harropfactor #Placemaker #SocialResponsibility

At the #UNEZA CEO meeting held within the COP29 Azerbaijan framework, we had the opportunity to reflect on the progress made since its launch at COP28 UAE, exactly one year ago, and I would like to extend my gratitude to the Utilities for Net Zero Alliance (UNEZA), its co-chairs TAQA Group and SSE Renewables, the Secretariat led by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and all our ecosystem partners for organizing this important discussion. Utilities play a pivotal role in powering not only our cities and industries but also the global transition away from fossil fuels. The goals set in the #UAEConsensus — tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030—cannot be achieved without bold leadership from utilities and sound investment strategies To realize this vision, we must accelerate the development of large-scale grid infrastructure. Without resilient, flexible, and reliable grids, our ambitions for renewable energy and resilient energy systems will falter. Achieving these goals requires the collective efforts of both public and private sectors. Regulatory bottlenecks, financing gaps, and aging infrastructure must be addressed through collaborative action. UNEZA was launched at COP28 UAE with the 2030 Breakthroughs and the Sharm El Sheikh Adaptation Agenda energy outcomes at its core. It is a unique platform, bringing together utilities and partners committed to a sustainable, resilient, and just energy future. The scale of investment required to build the grid infrastructure of the future is immense, but at #ClimateWeekNYC, UNEZA members announced their readiness to meet this challenge, setting clear targets to achieve the tripling and doubling targets outlined in the UAE Consensus at COP28. Now, it is time to implement these targets, and I trust that UNEZA will continue to lead this transformation in the energy sector, driving change towards 2030 and beyond. #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition #NetZero #Sustainability #UAEConsensus #COP28 #COP29
